Monday 11-20-17 Jive

Good evening, it's Monday November 20th. This is the Jive at Five, our daily community calendar and rundown of nighttime programming here on 88.1 FM WESU Middletown. By day, WESU offers talk radio from NPR and Pacifica, as well as independent and local public affairs sources. Weeknights and weekends our student and community volunteers bring you the best in free-form programming.

I’m Maria Johnson, producer and host of "Reasonably Catholic: Keeping the Faith," which is marking its fifth year of coming you every first, third and fifth Tuesday, from 4 to right before the Jive at Five. Tomorrow: a twofer. The first half of the program will be an interview with a Unitarian Universalist minister and a member of her Meriden flock who are providing sanctuary in the church to a would-be deportee from Indonesia. Then we'll talk to the founder of a new movement to resist Trump's plans and policies. It's for young Catholics and it's called The Francis Project. Can't listen live? Find the audio archived tomorrow night at www.reasonablycatholic.com.

We will resurrect his voice through some of the most significant and powerful recordings he left behind from his WESU radio show and poetry performances. Calling all poets, especially those who knew Viso, please bring a poem or two to share. There will be opportunity for family, friends and acquaintances to share how much Viso meant to all of us and express ourselves in his honor through the spoken word he so dearly loved.  For those who are not able to physically join us, the gathering will be live streaming on Facebook! more at www.wesufm.org
