Fri, Aug 30 Jive

Good evening, it's Friday, Aug. 30th. This is the Jive at Five, our daily community calendar and rundown of nighttime programming here on 88.1 FM WESU Middletown and streaming live at wesufm.org. By day, WESU offers talk radio from NPR and Pacifica, as well as independent and local public affairs sources. Weeknights and weekends our student and community volunteers bring you the best in free-form programming.

I'm Maria Johnson, producer and host of Reasonably Catholic: Keeping the Faith, the final episode of which will air this Tuesday from 4 to right before the Jive at Five. I'm taking a hiatus from radio to get some unfinished projects done and hope to be back by next fall or sooner, with an arts-and-culture-themed program. Thanks to everyone who made doing Reasonably Catholic so enriching for me these last seven years. Special thanks to WESU general manager Ben Michael for his technical help, for eggs from his happy hens, and especially for his friendship. Thanks to everyone who suggested show ideas, and to the guests, many of whom appeared on the show as the result of those suggestions. We had fun. Finally to my husband Leith Johnson for the show's theme music, for still more technical help, and for his constant encouragement and reassurance. Thanks finally to you, if you listened and especially if you didn't listen but donated to the station anyway. Till we meet again, a big hug!
