Tonight in Hartford, Michael Palin's Other Orchestra an 18 piece jazz ensemble performs at Black eyed Sally’s. On Wednesday, It’s MIKE LAW hosts Sally’s Weekly BLUES JAM.  Grammy nominated Hammond organist, Brian Charette  make sfor a night of Jazz at Sally’s on Friday night and Mike Law & the Playboys take the stage. www.blackeyedsallys.com

Tonight down in New Haven, at Cafe Nine the Alt/Bluegrass act Milksop:Unsung continuezs their Tuesday night monthly series at Café nine. Wednesday HADOUKEN presents the 2nd Local Bang-A-Rang Series: featuring Xenosis; Guerra; Continuum  showcasing progressive heavy metal.  Thursday night Samantha Crain, Ben Weaver, and Mon Monarch make for a night of folk snd singer songwriters at the Nine. Friday night you can catch Jenny Dee & the Delinquents; The Shellye Valauskas Experience; and Jeremy Lichter  at café nine. Saturday’s Open Blues Jam is hosted by  the George Baker Experience.  Saturday Night MANIC PRODUCTIONS Presents: Adam Arcuragi & the Lupine Chorale SocietyGolden Bloom; Dylan Connor for anight of alt country at café nine. www.cafenine.com

Here in Middletown at the Buttonwood Tree on Wednesday night, The Emile DeLeon Group hots An open Jazz Jam.  Thursday brings Bob Gotta’s longstanding acoustic open mic to the buttonwood. Friday night The Buttonwood presents a “Nashville Style Songwriter’s Round” – Featuring: Carrie Johnson, Kristen Graves, Al Raebuck, Marc Douglas Berardo and Jennifer Lowe. Saturday evening, The Zero Dollar Trio plays a blend of chamber jazz meets free improvisation diving into a multitude of sounds, textures and grooves. On Sunday’s Food not Bombs shares food in front of the Buttonwood Tree, all are welcome. More details about these events online at www.buttonwood.org
 
Wednesday Night Down in New Haven, Toads Place presents their weekly Dubstep dance party upstairs in Lily’s Pad. Friday night Max Creek takes the main stage. The McLovins open the show.  Afton presents a local artist showcase upstairs in Lily’s Pad on Friday. More online at www.toadsplace.com

On Thursday Nights here in Middletown, The Canoe Club at Harbor Park welcomes musicians to join in their weekly Irish music jam session.  On Friday Wesleyan Jazz Musicians Gabe Gordon, Claire Randall & Friends will be performing at The Canoe Club At Harbor Park Friday February 3rd 7pm.  for info call 860-347-9999
This Weekend in Middletown, Wesleyan’s Center For The Arts presents Great Small Works a performance group that draws on folk, avant-garde and popular theater traditions to address contemporary social issues.  Performances are: Friday, February 3 and Saturday, February 4, 2012 at 8pm in the CFA Theater.  www.wesleyan.edu/cfa

Tonight Cinestudio, The Trinity College cinema in Hartford is ends their run of the New Russian Film, Silent Souls.  Wednesday Night Cinestudio presents “Beats Rhymes and Life: The Travels of A Tribe Called Quest”. Thursday night Cinestudio presents “Democracy in Film: The Wave”, Friday and Saturday Cinestudio is showing “My Week With Marilyn”, Sunday Cinestudio begins a run of David Cronenberg’s new film, “ A Dangerous Method”. www.cinestudio.org
 
Through Friday, Real Art Ways in Hartford continues their run of the French film, Women on the 6th Floor.  Real Art Ways also continues a run of “The Conquest” through Thursday, this documentary chronicles Nicolas Sarkozy's rise to become President of France.  more online at : www.realartways.org
