Good evening, it's Monday, May 14th.
This is the Jive at Five, our daily community calendar and rundown of nighttime
programming here on 88.1 FM WESU Middletown. By day, WESU offers talk radio
from NPR and Pacifica, as well as independent and local public affairs sources.
Weeknights and weekends our student and community volunteers bring you the best
in free-form programming.
I’m Maria Johnson, producer and host of Reasonably Catholic: Keeping the Faith, which airs every first, third and fifth Tuesday, from 4 to right before the Jive at Five. Tomorrow: a visit with Franco Liseo, in celebration of his having hosted an Italian news
and music show on WESU for thirty years! Franco whose DJ name is Francaccio di
Roma, has fans on both sides of the
Atlantic who listen faithfully to Avanti Tutta every Saturday from 1 to 3 p.m.
In Middletown especially Franco is a celebrity. As a city resident, I was eager
to pick his brain about the Italian community here, and also about his Catholic
background. Franco actually was confirmed by a pope and has the photo to prove
it! If you can’t listen live today, I’ll post on the reasonablycatholic.com
blog later tonight the audio of this episode and that photo of Franco’s
confirmation, plus a picture of Franco on the air, and also one of the sheet
cake Franco brought to the staff meeting in March, because Italians know how to
celebrate. During our spring pledge drive, I'm inviting listeners to mark Reasonably Catholic's fifth birthday by giving any amount with a five in it! Please go to wesufm.or/pledge to donate! Thanks
