on 88.1 FM WESU Middletown. By day, WESU offers talk radio from NPR and
Pacifica, as well as independent and local public affairs sources. Weeknights
and weekends our student and community volunteers bring you the best in
free-form programming.

Here's some of what's going on in our area this week:
At the Russell Library in Middletown, their World War I
discussion series continues each Wednesday through the month. Veterans,
families, and the public are invited to join at the Middletown Senior Center at
10 am, or at 7 pm at the library. Thursday’s workshop is Smart Searching:
Internet Research, Fact Checking, and Staying Safe. There’s Adult Coloring for
Stress Reduction on Friday morning, and Yoga in the Courtyard on Saturday.
Stories of Helping Ghosts Move On happens Saturday afternoon in the Hubbard Room.

it’s another evening of Words& Music. Thursday you can enjoy

benefits the ACLU. Saturday’s Jazz Jam Session is with the George Baker Band,

Up in Hartford at Black-Eyed Sally’s, tonight/Wednesday
it’s the Wednesday community blues jam session featuring Tim McDonald,

Saturday, and on Sunday it’s a special afternoon show with American/Israeli

Thusday, Cherry St. Station in Wallingford offer a night of
loud music with a NIHIL Kickoff Tour with City of Iron, Slave State, and Ore

The Connecticut Science Center hosts a discussion, Conscious
Artificial Intelligence? with Dr. Susan Schneider on Thursday at 6 pm

At Toad’s Place in New Haven, on Thursday you can
catch “Ageless”, a New Mature Dance Party on the lily pad stage. On the Toad’s

Infinity Hall in Hartford brings story to the stage with
Speak Up Storytelling on Thursday, presenting “Secrets.” Its country and

The Wesleyan Center for the Arts hosts an opening reception
this Friday at 5 pm for UP IN ARMS, a multimedia group exhibition at
Zilkha Gallery exploring the social issues of gun ownership. Friday, the Grammy
Award-winning vocal project Roomful of Teeth comes to Crowell Concert Hall. On
Sunday at 3 pm, they celebrate Authentic Chinese Music and Dance at The Russell

Friday night, The Buttonwood Tree in Middletown
headlines The Painters. On Saturday morning it’s the weekly Aligned With Source
Workshop, followed by a Teen Open Mic at 3 pm. Saturday evening brings the Dr.
Steve Band Halloween Show to the Buttonwood for a night of fun with games and
prizes. On Sunday it’s a free CD Release Party for Time of Day and the Dave

The Middletown International Film Festival continues on
tonight/Tuesday with a screening of “Rams,” an Icelandic film about two
estranged brothers who reunite over animals. It’s at Chapman Hall on the

Through Thursday, Hartford’s Real Art Ways continues the run
“Loving Vincent,” a painted animation about the life of Vincent Van Gogh, and
“Tulip Fever,” about an orphan in an unhappy marriage in 17th Century
Amsterdam. Friday they open “Jane,” a documentary about Jane Goodall.

Tonight/Wednesday, Trinity College’s Cinestudio in Hartford continues the run of a restored version of Luis Buñuel’s French classic, “Diary of a Chambermaid”. German director Peter Kahane will be in the house on Thursday for a one-time screening of “The Architects,” a portrait of life in Communist East Berlin. On Friday they open “Logan Lucky,” about small-town West Virginia thieves. Enjoy “The Rocky Horror Picture Show” for a late Friday show.
