Middletown. By day, WESU offers talk radio from NPR and Pacifica, as well as
independent and local public affairs sources. Weeknights and weekends our
student and community volunteers bring you the best in free-form programming.

some of what's going on in our area this week:
At the Russell Library
in Middletown, this evening, they
present The Witches Speak: Poems of Salem Village and 17th Century
Scotland. Their World War I discussion series continues each Wednesday through
the month. Veterans, families, and the public are invited to join at the
Middletown Senior Center at 10 am, or at 7 pm at the library. Thursday’s
workshop is Smart Searching: Internet Research, Fact Checking, and Staying
Safe. There’s Adult Coloring for Stress Reduction on Friday morning, and Yoga
in the Courtyard on Saturday. Stories of Helping Ghosts Move On happens
Saturday afternoon in the Hubbard Room. Check the website for details on these

In New Haven at Café
Nine tonight, it’s a Pre-Halloween
show featuring Torque and Weird Hero. On Wednesday it’s another evening of Words
& Music. Thursday you can enjoy Health & Beauty, Famous Laughs, Lea,
and more. Friday’s Happy Hour features The Let Loose Band, and their Friday
night party with costumes, prizes and more benefits the ACLU. Saturday’s Jazz
Jam Session is with the George Baker Band, and the late show headlines Sarah
Borges & The Broken Singles. The Sunday Buzz Matinee features Larry Kirwan,

Black-Eyed Sally’s, tonight and every
Tuesday, you can see Michael Palin's

Wednesday's community blues jam session features Tim McDonald, this week. Thursday
it’s Liviu’s Invitational at Sally’s. On Friday its blues-based rock ‘n’ roll with

special afternoon show with American/Israeli singer/songwriter Lazer

The Connecticut
Science Center hosts a discussion, Conscious Artificial Intelligence? with Dr.

Haven, on Thursday you can catch “Ageless”,
a New Mature Dance Party on the lily pad stage. On the Toad’s main stage

Infinity Hall in
Hartford brings story to the stage with Speak Up Storytelling on Thursday, presenting “Secrets.” Its

The Wesleyan Center
for the Arts hosts an opening reception this Friday at 5 pm for UP IN ARMS, a multimedia group exhibition at
Zilkha Gallery exploring the social issues of gun ownership. Friday, the Grammy
Award-winning vocal project Roomful of Teeth comes to Crowell Concert Hall. On
Sunday at 3 pm, they celebrate Authentic Chinese Music and Dance at The Russell

Friday night, The Buttonwood Tree in Middletown headlines The Painters.
On Saturday morning it’s the weekly Aligned With Source Workshop, followed by a

a free CD Release Party for Time of Day and the Dave Kopperman Band at The buttonwood

The Middletown
International Film Festival continues on tonight/Tuesday with a screening of
“Rams,” an Icelandic film about two estranged brothers who reunite over
animals. It’s at Chapman Hall on the Middlesex Community College campus.

Through Thursday, Hartford’s
Real Art Ways continues the run “Loving Vincent,” a painted animation about the
life of Vincent Van Gogh, and “Tulip Fever,” about an orphan in an unhappy

Tonight and tomorrow, Trinity College’s Cinestudio in Hartford continues the run of a restored version of Luis Buñuel’s French classic, “Diary of a Chambermaid”.
