Good evening, it's Wednesday October 18th. This is the Jive at Five, our daily community calendar and rundown of nighttime programming here on 88.1 FM WESU Middletown. By day, WESU offers talk radio from NPR and Pacifica, as well as independent and local public affairs sources. Weeknights and weekends our student and community volunteers bring you the best in free-form programming.

On Wednesday evening this month, Russell Library in Middletown continue Their World War I discussion series. The Middlesex Historical Society hosts Robert Hubbard tonight/Wednesday who will speak on the Revolutionary War hero Israel Putnam. On Saturday the Karkowska Sisters Duo performs with chamber music, stories, and comedy. The Historic Sewing Circle will be creating historical garments in the lobby Sunday from 1-4 pm. Tonight, Wesleyan RJ Julia Bookstore in Middletown hosts award-winning psychologist Dr. John Bargh talking about his book, “Before You Know It.” David Howard appears on Thursday with his true crime caper, “Chasing Phil.” The Hillary Clinton book signing event on Saturday is sold out. YWCA celebrates its Week Without Violence with a Community Matters conversation tonight/Wednesday at 6 pm at their Hartford location. The featured speaker is Dr. Dorothy Martin-Neville, and there’s a book signing and presentation with Susan M Omilian who presents her new work, “Awaken: The Awakening of the Human Spirit on a Healing Journey.” State Troubadour Kate Callahan will perform. Tomorrow/Thursday it’s Frank Zappa - multi-percussionist Ed Mann taking the stage alongside the Other Orchestra. Tonight and tomorrow, Hartford’s Real Art Ways continues the run of their current afternoon movie, “Wind River,” a thriller about a murder on a Native American reservation, also screening through Thursday is “Lucky,” about the spiritual journey of a 90-year-old atheist. Tonight, Trinity College’s Cinestudio in Hartford ends their run of “Brigsby Bear,” a dark comedy about a TV bear. Tomorrow/Thursday Cinestudio kicks off their run of “Wind River”. And from 6:30 -8 it's Fusion Radio with James Fusion.

From 8 - 9:30 it's The Warehouse with Mike Nyce.
