The Buttonwood Tree in Middletown bring soffers the weekly
series “Step into the Vortex“ with Anne-Marie and Mike McEwen in the evening.
On Friday the Matabasset String Collective takes the stage for a night of
bluegrass, blues, and more. On Saturday morning it’s the Aligned With Source
Workshop, and in the evening it’s another double bill with singer/songwriters
Cathy Kreger and Caroline Doctorow. The Hearing Voices network meets on Monday
mornings at 10:30. The month-long Art Show features the work of Bonnie

In New Haven at CafĂ© Nine tonight, it’s Grammy nominee Kim Richey, along with Lara Herscovitch. Wednesday’s bill has Canyon, That Virginia, Steph Serenita, and Storytime Bob. Thursday brings you Cash’d Out and Nathaniel Hintz. Friday’s Women in Music Happy Hour has Shellye Valauskas & Dean Falcone, along with Kamryn. Up in Hartford at Black-Eyed Sally’s, every Tuesday, you can
see Michael Palin's Other Orchestra get funky with their take on jazz, R&B,
and soul classics. Wednesday's community blues jam session features Brant
Taylor this week. On Thursday it’s Liviu’s Invitational. It’s high-energy
acoustics on Friday with Primate Fiasco. On Saturday, it’s the return of the

Manic Presents brings Third Eye Blind to the College Street
Music Hall in New Haven tonight/Tuesday. Tomorrow/Wednesday it’s Kyle Kinane,

At the Russell Library in Middletown, this evening the Job
& Career Center hosts a workshop on Job Negotiation. In addition, tonight, the
Russell Readers will meet to discuss “Refresh, Refresh” by Benjamin Percy.
Their World War I discussion series continues each Wednesday through the month.
Veterans, families, and the public are invited to join at the Middletown Senior
Center at 10 am, or at 7 pm at the library. There’s a Horror Writing for Teens
workshop Wednesday at 6 pm. There’s a book discussion on Margaret Atwood’s
“Alias Grace” Thursday evening. Friday they host a Paper Crafts for Adults at
11:30 am. On Saturday they begin a Local Authors! series with Middletown
authors Sandy Berenbaum and Matthew James Alexander Simmons, and the Friends

for her new book, “What I Found in a Thousand Towns.” On Friday, it’s Jenny

Hartford’s Real Art Ways continues the run of “The Nile
Hilton Incident,” an Egyptian movie about a murder in Cairo, and “Walk With
Me,” a peek inside the Zen Buddhist monastery of Thich Naht Hahn, through
Thursday. The afternoon movie is “Wind River,” a thriller about a murder on a
Native American reservation. On Friday they open “Lucky,” about the spiritual
