Good evening, it's Tuesday October 31st. Happy Halloween!  This is the Jive at Five, our daily community calendar and rundown of nighttime programming here on 88.1 FM WESU Middletown. By day, WESU offers talk radio from NPR and Pacifica, as well as independent and local public affairs sources. From 6-8pm tonight,  it’s Acoustic Blender with Bill Revill offering an eclectic selection of new and older folk, Americana, bluegrass, blues and other music that has a roots influence with a concert listing at 7pm and frequent concert and festival ticket giveaways. Tonight, Connecticut guitarist extraordinaire, Dana Merritt will be live in the studio with Bill.

At 8pm, DJ Chaim fills in for J-Cherry.
Chaim continues in his regular time from 9-10pm with The Test Patterns Show.

At 10pm it’s Wes Sports and Beyond with DJ Steven featuring Sports Talk and interviews.

I’m Maria Johnson, producer and host of Reasonably Catholic: Keeping the Faith, which airs every first, third and fifth Tuesday, from 4 to right before the Jive at Five. As tmrw is Halloween, it's sadly appropriate to discuss something truly scary: the opiod crisis. We'll talk with Dr. Thomas Andrew, the subject of a recent New York Times piece headlined, “As Overdose Deaths Pile Up, a Medical Examiner Quits the Morgue." After 20 years' working with cadavers as New Hampshire's chief coroner, Dr. Thomas is turning his attention to the living. He’s about to enter the seminary to become a minister.  Can't listen live? Right after the Jive At Five from 5:05 to 6:30pm, it'll be Wild Wild Live! with Babe and Beth expounding on that Wesleyan music scene.

And from 6:30-7pm catch the Middletown Youth Radio Project, a weekly radio program featuring the thoughts, voices, creativity and talent of the kids in the WESU neighborhood. 

At 7 until 8:30pm we have the Universal Sound Wave with Sista Queen T - offering a wide range of music including African, reggae, gospel, R&B, Latin, and blues. Plus health, nutrition, and stress reduction tips.
