Here in Middletown, The Buttonwood Tree hosts a Gong and Sound Meditation on Thursday, and they celebrate Make Music Day on Friday with Bob Gotta and Friends starting at noon. Classical and flamenco guitar blend with vocals on Friday when Christian and Carolina present World & Soul. On Sunday afternoon, Buttonwood artists are providing entertainment at the Lyman Orchards Food Truck on the Farm event, and on Sunday evening, the Griot Arts Project takes the stage with storytelling to celebrate both uniqueness and commonalities. The Wesleyan RJ Julia Bookstore in Middletown hosts another local author event Thursday evening with the theme, “Healthy Eating.” Registration is requested. They celebrate Make Music Day on Friday with special guests including Wyndwoods, Mudpuppies, and GB Sneed. In New Haven, at Café Nine, tonight you can catch Klezmer Fusion Collective, Floating Lanterns, Nick DiMaria Wired, and more. Saturday evening they host a record release event with The End of America appearing with Antonino Lappostato and Ryan Patrick White. Back in Hartford, Cirque du Soleil presents “Luzia,” for the next two weeks under the Big Top at Riverfront Plaza, with performances now through Sunday. Tonight River Zumba happens at the riverfront in the evening. The Connecticut Historical Society sponsors a free outdoor concert Thursday evening featuring Zikina, a group blending Ugandan folk music with American sounds. You can enjoy a workout/yoga event Friday evening at the riverfront with Tribe Outside. On Saturday morning, veterans and service members are invited to introductory rowing and kayaking sessions at Riverside Park, and the Cedar Hill Cemetery offers a “Lest We Forget: Infectious Diseases 1850-1918” tour. The Butler McCook House and Garden offers free garden admission on Sunday to celebrate CT Historic Gardens Day. Hartford’s Real Art Ways continues “The Biggest Little Farm,” and “Too Late To Die Young,” a coming-of-age film about an isolated community in the Chilean Andes. Also continuing is “The Spy Behind Home Plate,” the true story of a major league baseball player turned spy. Their Science on Screen series continues Wednesday with a screening of “The Music of Strangers: Yo-Yo Ma and the Silk Road Ensemble,” a documentary that chronicles the passion, talent, and sacrifice of five ensemble performers. On Friday, they open “Pavarotti,” a documentary of legendary opera singer, and “Woodstock: Three Days that Defined a Generation,” a film that explores the iconic event defined as more miracle than mess. Trinity College’s Cinestudio in Hartford continues “Long Day’s Journey Into Night,” a Chinese film noir about murder in a Southwest China town. On Friday, they open “The Silence of Others,” a Spanish film that follows the epic struggle of justice-seeking victims of General Franco. The Sunday matinée National Theatre Live performance is a new adaptation of “All About Eve,” starring Gillian Anderson.
