Good evening, it's Thursday, June 6th. This is the Jive at
Five, our daily community calendar and rundown of nighttime programming here on
88.1 FM WESU Middletown. By day, WESU offers talk radio from NPR and Pacifica,
as well as independent and local public affairs sources. Weeknights and
weekends our student and community volunteers bring you the best in free-form
programming.
I’m Ben Micahel, Thanks for joining us this evening.
I’m Ben Micahel, Thanks for joining us this evening.
So far, the WESU community has collectively donated over $14,000
in support of the service we provide during our Spring fundraising campaign. My
sincere thanks to those of you whose generous gifts have gotten us this far.
The fact that we can raise the lion’s share of this money through donations
that are under $100 is impressive in many ways but it makes for hard work and
it takes a long time.
While we are grateful for donations of all sizes and every
dollar counts, it’s going to take a lot more $15-$20 donations to raise the
nearly $11,000 needed to close out this pledge drive and balance our books by
the end of June.
While I know it’s just not possible for many WESU supporters
(myself included), those who can afford donations with two and three zeros will
make a huge difference in our ability to reach our goal.
When it comes down to it, we need all hands on deck to help
ensure WESU has the wind in its sails to keep our station going strong for
another 80 years!
Now, here's some of what's happening in our area this week
