88.1 FM WESU Middletown. By day, WESU offers talk radio from NPR and Pacifica,
as well as independent and local public affairs sources. Weeknights and
weekends our student and community volunteers bring you the best in free-form
programming.

weekend:
At the Buttonwood Tree in Middletown tonight, you can enjoy
jazz standards, world music, and more with the acoustic ensemble Django’s
Reserve. The Aligned With Source workshop happens tomorrow/Saturday morning,
and on Saturday evening Sharkey and The Sparks take the Buttonwood Tree stage.
There’s a Reiki Share with Eileen Anderson on Sunday and you can enjoy the new
exhibition, “Wildlife in the Tree,” by Elizabeth Ann McNalley, throughout the

In New Haven tonight, Cafe Nine’s 5pm Happy Hour live music
showcase features Pat Dalton right about now.
The late show tonight at Café Nine features with Amy Rigby. The Nine’s
Weekly Saturday afternoon Jazz Jam Session is with Gary Grippo this week, and
Saturday evening, Every Branch, Sentiments, and Addy Edwards share a bill. The
Sunday Buzz matinée will be an 85th Birthday Tribute to Elvis, and they finish

At Black-Eyed Sally’s in Hartford, tonight, you can catch
Ryan Hartt & The Blue Hearts, and on Saturday you can catch electric blues

Party tonight with DJs on two stages, and on Saturday they’ve got an Opus
Birthday Blizzard Bash 2020 with EARTH, Dead by Wednesday, Black Tooth, and

The State House in New Haven brings you rock ‘n’ roll tonight
with The Let Loose and The Grand Par. There’s a Capricorn 90’s Hip Hop Bash on
Saturday featuring Masta Ace, Dinco D, Key West Experience, and more. It’s a
Hardcore Matinée on Sunday afternoon with Blind Justice, Downfall, Rain of

Cherry Street Station in Wallingford holds a Bad Ass Rock
and Roll Show tonight with Immolators, Haunting Titans, and O’K and the Night

Now here's a rundown of cinema off the beaten track in
Central Connecticut:
Hartford’s Real Art Ways continues runs of “Parasite,” a
modern Korean fairy tale, “A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood,” starring Tom
Hanks as you-know-who, and “Harriet,” based on the life of iconic freedom
fighter Harriet Tubman. Also showing is Cunningham, a documentary tracing Merce
Cunningham's artistic evolution over three decades as a struggling dancer to
his emergence as one of the world's most visionary choreographers. Upcoming
openings include “Honey Boy” and “Burning Cane.” Check the website for details

Trinity College’s Cinestudio's offering a weekend run of “A
Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood” and their National Theatre Live matinée on
Sunday is “Fleabag.” They start a run of “Pain and Glory,” about an aging

Right after the Jive, stay tuned for AJ Cool J for an hour
of dance hits followed at 6:30 by two hours of Universal Sound Wave with Sista
Queen T. offering a wide range of music including African, reggae, gospel,
R&B, Latin, and blues. In addition, she features health, nutrition, and
stress reduction tips.
Then at 8:30 it's Grand Central Station with DJ Jenny Doll, inviting
you to travel back in time to the 1940's and 1950's with a swinging upbeat show
filled with big band, jazz, swing and rockabilly, and some new releases.
At 10, stay tuned for Train to Skaville presenting
deep cuts from his collection of popular Jamaican music of the 60s and
70s
Then at 11, Mentaltown with the Ultimate emcee El Vee comes
on, offering a dose of unsigned Local Hip Hop.
At midnight, it's Permanent Collection with Chris for
an hour of non-toxic creative radio followed by more creative use of sonic
events on Deep Threes….
From 3 to 5 a.m., stay tuned for Back Down the Bayou with
Bill Boelens. Presenting an eclectic Louisiana and roots music show from
the Banana Plantation in Baton Rouge.
From 5 to 6, it's BBC World News, followed at 6 by the
Celtic Cafe with Mark Gallagher, and at 7, Caffe Italia, with Francesco Fiumara
from KSLU.
