Tonight, here in
Middletown, The Wesleyan University Center for the Arts presents New Haven’s
experimental soul ensemble, Phat A$tronaut, performing live in the CFA

The Middletown Arts
& Culture Office wants you to know that the Music at the Mansion series
opens this Wednesday at the Wadsworth Mansion with a performance by Shaded
Soul. Bring your own picnic meal or sample the food trucks. There’s a guided
nature walk at the Middletown Nature Garden Saturday at 10 am, and in the
evening, Horse Jumper of Love, Glambat, and waveform will perform at the Mac

Also here in
Middletown, Thursday night at The Buttonwood Tree, Bob Gotta hosts his long
running Acoustic Open Mic. The Hearing Voices Network meets on Friday at 12:30
pm, and Friday evening, the Story City Troupe takes the stage. You can enjoy
folk artist Letitia Van Sant on Saturday night, and on Sunday at 2 pm there’s a
reception for this month’s art exhibit, a retrospective of Barbara Newton

The Russell Library in
Middletown reminds you that you can take part in the adult summer reading
program and earn raffle tickets for downtown Middletown gift cards. The next

In New Haven, at Café
Nine tonight, Shake ‘N’ Vibrate offers a special Independence Day Dance Off
& Soul Shakedown. Friday The Nine’s 5pm Happy Hour set features The Tommys.

and Dangerous Animals. Saturday’s Jazz Jam session is with Mike Coppola and
Friends, and in the evening they bring you Paranormal Adam, Stars of Beyond,

The State House holds a Puro Tayta Shanti album listening session on with a
tropical music afterparty. Sessa performs Brazilian pop at State House on

In Hartford, The
Bushnell Park Beer Garden opens Friday at 4 pm, offering beer, pizza, and games
each week. Military service members and veterans are invited to free rowing and
kayaking sessions every Saturday at 9:30 am at Riverside Park, and historic
tours of Bushnell Park happen at 10 am monthly through October. Sensual Salsa
Saturdays happen at the Red Rock Tavern at 9 pm. The Hartford Mindfulness
Center holds guided meditations every Monday at noon on Constitution Plaza, and

Hartford’s Real Art
Ways has held over the run of “Pavarotti,” a documentary about The Voice, The
Man, The Legend, and continues “Echo in the Canyon,” a documentary on the
Laurel Canyon music scene of the mid-60’s. Friday they open “The Reports on
Sarah and Saleem,” a drama of clandestine Israeli/Palestinian love, and “The
Raft,” a documentary that revisits the crew of a raft that crossed the Atlantic

Trinity College’s
Cinestudio in Hartford continues “Shadow,” a Chinese Game of Thrones-type film
about three ancient kingdoms at war, through Thursday. On Friday they open
