wesufm.org. By day, WESU offers talk radio from NPR and Pacifica, as well as
independent and local public affairs sources. Weeknights and weekends our
student and community volunteers bring you the best in free-form programming.

in our area this week:
The Buttonwood Tree hosts Laughter
Yoga with Dawn on this evening/Tuesday , followed by a Crystal Bowl Sound
Healing with Lou Sorrentino. On Thursday, it’s Shaking the Tree, a Gong and
Sound Meditation. The Hearing Voices Network with Jessica Miller meets Friday
at 12:30 pm, and in the evening you can enjoy R& B, soul, and light pop
with Indigo Soul. The Aligned With Source Workshop happens Saturday morning,
and there’s a Teen Open Mic in the afternoon. In the evening, you can enjoy the
experimental music of Joe White & Friends. You’re invited to check out the
retrospective of Barbara Newton Hahn’s oil-on-canvas works all month. www.buttonwood.org
Tuesday evening in New Haven, at
Café Nine, they bring you Bassel & The Supernaturals, along with Dylan
Connor. Wednesday is a 2000s karaoke night, and the headliners on Thursday are
Mooncha, and Chef the Chef. The Relax Trio and Johnny Cab take the stage on
Thursday. Friday’s Happy Hour features Buzz Gordo, followed by the late show
with Casey James Prestwood and the Burning Angels appearing with The Split
Coils. Saturday’s Jazz Jam session is with Tony Dioguardi & Friends, and in
the evening you can catch Daby Touré and Ro Godwynn. The Sunday Matinée
features Nikki Hill, and in the evening they’ve got Ocean Heights, Mandala,

Up in Hartford at Black-Eyed
Sally’s, Michael Palin’s Other Orchestra brings you jazz, R&B, soul
classics, and more on tonight/Tuesday. Wednesday’s Community Blues Jam features
Ray Morant, and Liviu’s Invitational comes your way on Thursday. On Friday you
can dance the night away with Say Yeah!, and on Saturday Jeff Pitchell & Texas

On Friday, the State House in New
Haven hosts the BKO Quintet from Mali appearing with the Klezmer Fusion

Back in Hartford, the Connecticut
Historical Society invites you to learn about the history of weather at Family
Adventure Days: A Storm is Coming!, on Tuesday and Thursday. There’s a full
moon hike Tuesday and Wednesday evenings at Riverside Park. Riverfront
Recapture offers a free fitness class at Mortensen Riverfront Plaza Tuesday
evenings through August, and The Cirque du Soleil performances of “Luzia”
continue Tuesday through Sunday at the Big Top. The Audio Feed series at
Constitution Plaza features Pat Stone on Wednesday at noon, and you’re invited
to Workout Wednesdays at the Old State House. In the evening Cedar Hill
Cemetery offers a highlight tour. The Elizabeth Park summer Concert Series on
Wednesday headlines Eight to the Bar, and it’s karaoke night at The Russell on
Pratt St. The Pratt Street Lunchtime Music series continues on Thursday at noon
with Sondra Levine, and at 7 pm the Historical Society holds an outdoor concert
with Betsy’s Band, featuring traditional New England country dances. It’s the
weekend of the Greater Hartford Festival of Jazz, Friday through Sunday at
Bushnell Park. The Connecticut Ballet offers “Ballet Under the Stars” Saturday
in Bushnell Park. The Hartford Mindfulness Center holds guided meditations
every Monday at noon on Constitution Plaza, and check the website for free yoga

The Wesleyan RJ Julia
Bookstore hosts Irene Goldman-Price on Wednesday to discuss “Selected
Poems of Edith Wharton.” The Local Author series continues on Thursday with
non-fiction Green Press publications by Neile Parisi, Ehris Urban, and more.
There’s a Mason Jar Press panel event with Sarah Cody on Friday, presenting
novellas by Nicole Callihan, Jaime Fountaine, and Tomas Moniz. Kids’ events

The Russell Library in Middletown
reminds you to take part in the Adult Summer Reading program to win a downtown
Middletown gift card with the next drawing on July 29th. Scrabble Wednesday is

Google Drive Workshop Wednesday evening is on wait-list status, and there’s an
Eat Rite Workshop for Teens on BBQ Sides. A Solar for All session happens

Manic Presents is at the College
Street Music Hall tonight/Tuesday with Little Steven and the Disciples of Soul.
They bring you Nick Kroll live on Thursday, appearing with Sam Jay. At the
Space Ballroom in Hamden, they’ve got Covet, Vasudeva, and Holy Fawn on
Wednesday, and Local H and Marvelous Liars on Friday. They finish out the week
at the Space on Saturday with Midnight North, The Backyard Committee, and Tracy
Jo & The Toads. At the Wall Street Theater in Norwalk it’s Conor Oberst and

The Middletown Commission on the
Arts opens their Summer Sounds Concert Series this evening/Tuesday at
Union Park on the South Green featuring the classic rock of Fun Factor. Bring

The Middletown Arts & Culture
Office announces that the Citizens Bank 5K Summer Fun Run happens Wednesday
starting at 5 pm. The Music at the Mansion series continues at the Wadsworth
mansion, featuring CJ West and the Downtown Train. Bring your own picnic meal
or sample the food trucks. There’s a Teaching Artists open session at
Oddfellows Playhouse on Thursday at 4 pm, and at 5:30 the Rockfall Foundation
sponsors an “Eating Greener” session at It’s Only Natural Restaurant. And The
Kids, The Harmaleighs, and Olive Tiger will be at the MAC 650 Gallery and
Artist Co-Op on Friday. The Johan Center for Earth and Art invites you to a

Hartford’s Real Art Ways is still
running “Pavarotti,” a documentary about The Voice, The Man, The Legend, and
continues “Echo in the Canyon,” a documentary of the Laurel Canyon music scene
of the mid-60’s. Also continuing through Thursday is “Toni Morrison: The Pieces
I Am,” a documentary about the writer featuring peers, critics, and colleagues.
On Friday they open “In the Aisles,” a German film about the magical world of a
big box store, and “The Other Story,” an Israeli film about family and

Trinity College’s Cinestudio in
Hartford continues “The Souvenir,” a mystery that takes place during the
Thatcher years in Britain, through Thursday. On Friday they open “The Dead
