By day, WESU offers talk radio from NPR and Pacifica, as well as independent and local public affairs sources. Weeknights and weekends our student and community volunteers bring you the best in free-form programming.
Here's a rundown of what's going down in our area this week.
The Buttonwood Tree in Middletown this evening. Bob Gotta hosts his monthly acoustic Open Mic on Thursday. It’s folk, roots, and blues on Friday night with Davey O. and Stan Sullivan. On Saturday morning it’s the Aligned With Source Workshop. It’s a full bill the rest of the day as the Buttonwood celebrates the Main Street Stroll in Middletown. They host Jess Best with a songwriting workshop at 12:30 pm, and there’s a Drum Circle with Andrew Prue at 2 pm. Noah Baerman leads a Jazz Jam session at 2:30 pm, and from 4 pm on it’s Frank Varela with his 2ManJazzTrio concert, and art show. On Sunday, the NEAR and Far Storytellers is on deck at 2 pm. At Middletown’s Russell Library The Friends (of the Library) Book Sale happens on Friday and Saturday. Also on Saturday , Russell Library open the 7th annual Prison Arts Program exhibit in collaboration with Community Partners in Action. This year’s theme is Out Of Prison Making Art. In New Haven at Café Nine tonight features Sunday Morning, Scooped Up, and The Benedicks.
