August 8th. This is the Jive at Five, our daily community calendar and rundown
of nighttime programming here on 88.1 FM WESU Middletown. By day, WESU
offers talk radio from NPR and Pacifica, as well as independent and local
public affairs sources. Weeknights and weekends our student and community
volunteers bring you the best in free-form programming.

The city of Middletown Commission on the Arts invites you to Harbor park for their Summer Sounds concert series tonight, at 6:30, featuring Angelo Sapia’s Band performing Italian favorites from days gone by. Wednesday you can catch Doo Wop Deville performing live in the Music at the Mansion series at Middletown's Wadsworth Mansion. Tonight at The Buttonwood Tree, AnnMarie and Mike McEwen offer their monthly workshop
“Step into the Vortex”. Thursday night, it’s comedy at The Buttonwood Tree with
Corey Rodrigues, Pat Oates and Kristine Blinn. Friday night The Ebin-Rose Trio
& Kristin Rebecca make for a night of Americana. On Saturday morning it’s
the Aligned With Source Workshop, and Saturday evening brings the
Franco/American duo, The Whispering Tree to The Buttonwood Tree. On Sunday at
5pm at The Buttonwood it’s NEAR and Far Storytellers (Hosted by Jim Harriman
and Carolyn Stearns) ft. Sara deBeer. The Hearing Voices Network meets Monday

tomorrow this (Tues) eve at 5:45, in the Hubbard Room, The Job &
Career Program offers the Workshop: 'From the Interview to Working Again: How
to Make a Smooth Transition Back to Work' with Marcia LaReau, Ph.D.. On
Wednesday, in the Great War on the Big Screen series, they’re offering 2
screenings of “Testament of Youth”. Wed eve at 6pm, there’s a cartooning
workshop for kids grades 1-6 with Christopher Brown. The hands-on fiddling
tutorial sponsored by the Connecticut Bristol Old Tyme Fiddlers Club continues

Tuesday nights in
Hartford, Michael Palin’s Other Orchestra works out new material on the
Black-eyed Sally’s stage. Wednesday’s Community Blues Jam is hosted by GENE
DONALDSON, this week. On Thursday at Sally’s, it’s Liviu Pop’s
invitational series with special guests. On Friday Vitamin B-3, brings
classic R&B to Southern Soul, and deep Blues, with a little Jazz and Funk

Thursday at 11am, Teens in grades 7 and up can learn basic paper folding techniques and get inspired to give old books new life by turning them into true works of art.The program is free but space is limited.
