here’s a rundown of some of what’s going on in the community this weekend.
At the
Buttonwood Tree in Middletown tonight there’s a fundraiser for the White Raven
Archives project, featuring shape note singer/scholar Gabriel Kastelle and the
music of the Brothertown Indian Nation. Also appearing is guitarist R.D. King.
On Saturday morning it’s the Aligned With Source Workshop, and at 3 pm, it’s a
Teen Open Mic for performers ages 12-18. There’s Texas Folk Saturday night with

Tonight
in Middletown at MAC650 Gallery, 650 Main St., there’s a fashion art exhibition
opening featuring the clothing sculptural works of Kelley Griffin, beginning at

Tonight New Haven’s Café
Nine Happy Hour is with Bronson
Rock, followed by the night show headlining Still I Rise, The 34’s, Mystic
Seahorse, and Saline. Saturday, Café Nine’s weekly afternoon Jazz Jam Session
is with Tony Dioguardi & Friends. Saturday’s late show features Marshall
Crenshaw Y Los Straitjackets, along with Sarah Borges. Café Nine’s Sunday Buzz
Matinee brings you Kristen Ford, Kyla P., and Olive Tiger. They round out the

Cherry
St. Station in Wallingford brings you Chuggernaut, Outside My Head, Imbroglio,

Hartford’s Real Art Ways continues the
showing of Lost in Paris, a comedic
story of finding love in the City of Lights, on Saturday & Sunday afternoon.
Also in the early afternoons through Aug. 24th they’re showing My Cousin Rachel. The late afternoon
movie through Aug. 24 is Beatriz at
Dinner, starring Salma Hayek as an immigrant who collides with a
billionaire. Tonight they open The Last
Dalai Lama? a documentary about the future of a spiritual leader in the
Buddhist tradition. There’s a post-film Q & A with director Mickey Lemle on

Trinity College’s Cinestudio in
Hartford continues its run of 7 Beauties: The Films of Lina Wertmüller series through

Right after the Jive At Five from 5:05 to 7pm, it'll be Free
Talk Radio with Al Robinson and Deni addressing news, politics,
entertainment & weather and featuring listeners’ call-ins.
At 7 until 8:30pm we have the Universal Sound Wave with Sistah Tee - offering listeners a wide
range of music including African, reggae, gospel, R&B, Latin, and blues.
Plus health, nutrition, and stress reduction tips.
Next up until 10pm, we take it From the Otherside with Rok-A-Dee where 60% of the show is love songs of different genre and the others Reggae Dancehall, R&B, and new artiste.
Then from 10 to 11:30pm it's Strickly Off the Head where DJ Commotion the Music Mixologist provides a live mixshow done on the fly or freestyle, with no pre-planned mixes or blends - R&B, old school, hip hop, rap and house.

Ministry covers the hour from 4 to 5am with a compendium of the best and newest
