In New Haven tonight, Chuck Prophet and the
Mission Express take the Café Nine stage with Amy Rigby. Thursday night at Café
Nine you can catch Seasaw, The Tell, and a solo set from Glambat. Friday Café nine’s
Weekly Wind Down Happy Hour features Laura Dowding for a 5pm set and later Friday
night, The Black Lillies perform with the Meadows Brothers. On Saturday, Café
Nine hosts a free Jazz Jam Session with Gary Grippo and Friends in the
afternoon. Saturday night Go Kat Go! And Café Nine co-present Southern culture
on the skids with the woolly bushmen On Sunday, The Sunday Buzz Matinee From
Cygnus Radio rounds out the week with the Mario Pavone Vertical Quintet,

Tonight, The Russell Library welcomes
state archivist at the Connecticut state library, Lizette Pelletier, who will
present: Preserving Your Treasures: Family History Documents and Photos at 7.
On Thursday, at Russell library, Author Elisabeth Petry will continue to lead
the Veterans’ Writing Group, We Were There: Writing Your Military Experiences. The
Friends of Russell Library Booksale offers an opportunity to support the
library and pick up a few new books in the process this Friday from 9am-6pm,

Up in Hartford at Black-Eyed Sally’s, Wednesday nights feature a long running
Community Blues Jam with Special Guests. Thursday nights, Black-eyed Sally’s
continues Liviu’s Invitational Jazz Series. Friday, Eliza Neals and the
Narcotics take the Sally’s stage and Saturday Evening, you can catch the George
T. Gregory Band, and Jam For Jimmy – a Musical Tribute to sax master Jimmy

Here in Middletown, at 4:30pm Thursday Wesleyan University’s Center
for the Arts opens their 42 annual Navaratri Festival of Indian Music and Dance
at the Ring Family Performing Arts Hall with a lecture by Dr. Indira
Viswanathan Peterson titled “Temples, Sanskrit, and Tamil in the Karnatak Songs
of Muttusvami Dikshitar.”
The festival continues Friday evening when Vocalist
and Adjunct Associate Professor of Music B. Bala-subrahn-maniyan takes the
Crowell Concert Hall stage at 8:00pm for a concert of the Vocal Music of South
India accompanied by percussion and violin.
Saturday night, Gayathri Venka-tarag-havan performs at the Crowell Concert Hall at 8pm as a part of the Navaratri Festival, with the Hindu Ceremony Saraswati Puja led by A.V. Srini-vasan at the World Music Hall at 11am on Sunday morning. Sunday at 3pm, dancer, Mythili Prakash comes to the Crowell Concert Hall to make her Connecticut debut. www.wesleyan.edu/cfa

The Buttonwood Tree hosts an artist reception for Rosie Warren tomorrow/ Thursday. Friday at 8pm brings the Shaman Wisdom Group. On Saturday, The Buttonwood Tree hosts Aligned With Source: A Personal Development Workshop and Meditations at 10:30am and a Fundraiser for the Connecticut based non-profit organization Cat Tales that evening. On Sunday, the buttonwood tree invites storytellers to come to its Near and Far story workshop. The Rosie Warren and Janine Janaki art exhibits runs through the month. www.buttonwood.org

Davis with Lyon Street Fire at the Space Ballroom. SuicideGirls:Blackheart
Burlesque joins the college street music hall stage on Friday, with Titus
Andronicus and Summer Cannibals at the Space Ballroom that night. Also at the
space ballroom, TTNG: Animals 10th Anniversary Tour plays with

Infinity Hall in Hartford presents Jonny Lang on Thursday. Tommy Emmanuel takes the
Infinity all Norfolk stage Thursday and then plays Infinity Hall Hartford on
Friday. Saturday night at Infinity Hartford, Jonathan Edwards takes the stage. Also
on Friday, Infinity Norfolk hosts the Blues Caravan 2018 with Mike Zito, Ally
Venable and Bernard Allison. Saturday at Infinity Norfolk its more blues with
Jeff Pitchell’s Legends featuring Michael Allman and More. Sunday, Infinity Norfolk hosts Mindi Abair and the Boneshakers,

Artists for World Peace hosts the second
Interfaith Dialogue of a Trilogy this Sunday
from 2-5pm in the DeKoven House Community Room, here in Middletown. The event
includes speakers from different faiths as well as a Peace Wall consisting of hundreds
of canvases supporting the current Native Eyes project.
Lyman Orchards, collaborating with Arthur Murray
Dance Centers, invites you to learn to dance at the Corn Maze this Saturday at 11am. On October 13 and 14
the Connecticut Gilbert & Sullivan Society will bring to the stage
everyone’s favorite comic opera, The Mikado, playing at the modern Valley
Regional Performing Arts Center in Deep River, Connecticut.
Last but not Least, this Sunday brings the WESU Fall 2018 Community record fair to Wesleyans' Fayerweather Beckham Hall. This annual event features dozens of vendors selling records, cassettes, CDs, T-shirts, and other music memorabilia. As always, The WESU Record fair is free and open to the public from 11am to 4pm with an opportunity for early-birds to beat the crowd from 10-11am for a $5 admission. www.wesufmorg

track in Central Connecticut:
Real Art Ways continues its run of “Museo,” about
a museum heist in Mexico City, and “Rodents of Unusual Size,” a documentary
about swamp rats in Louisiana. Also playing through Sunday, is “Pick of The
Litter,” an IFC documentary following a litter of puppies from the moment
they’re born and begin their quest to become guide dogs for the blind.
Opening Friday at Real Art Ways, is “I Am Not A
Witch,” a fable about a Zambian girl accused of witchcraft. 306 Hollywood – a
magical realist documentary of two siblings who undertake an archaeological
excavation of their late grandmother’s house – opens on Friday, along with
Kusama: Infinity – a documentary about the renowned artist Yayoi Kusama. Check

Tonight, Trinity College’s Cinestudio is ends their
run of The Japanese film “The Third Murder. Cinestudio has a showing of The
Miseducation of Cameron Post, a film of a 1990s teen sent off to a sexual
orientation conversion camp called God’s Promise. A two day run of “puzzle”
