on 88.1 FM WESU Middletown. By day, WESU offers talk radio from NPR and
Pacifica, as well as independent and local public affairs sources. Weeknights
and weekends our student and community volunteers bring you the best in
free-form programming.

At Café Nine, tonight brings singer-songwriters Chris Trapper and Seth Adam to The Nine. Friday night brings THE HEMPSTEADYS' HALLOWEEN show to Café Nine where they will be PLAYING THE HITS OF BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN with Cenzo and Dagwood for a night of punk rock and roll. Saturday’s Jazz Jam Session is with George Baker. Saturday night’s main event features Goodnight Blue Moon performing a special Halloween set. The Sunday Buzz Matinee features country twang from Ray Scott with Pat Stone and The Dirty Boots and The Nine rounds out the weekend Sunday night with a performance by Clark Beckham and Jim Wolf. http://www.cafenine.com/

Hartford, Black-Eyed Sally’s hosts its weekly Liviu’s Jazz Invitational tonight

Russell Library in Middletown, Elizabeth Petry leads We were There, Writing
your Military Experience - a writing workshop for vets - this evening at the
Library. Tomorrow at 11am Crafts for adults takes place and
Saturday afternoon at 1:30 Resonant Motion offers Jazz up close: Ike Sturm. Ike
is a bandleader, composer and recording artist and he is the jazz director at
Saint Peter's Church in NYC. Joining him will be guitarist Jesse Lewis and

and meet them at the Buttonwood Tree. Friday night The Rock Comedy group, the
Coconuts return to the Buttonwood stage. Saturday night, Al Copley – Jazz
Pianist, arranger, and co-founder of “Roomful of Blues” – the renowned Grammy
nominated American jump band, brings his solo act to the The Buttonwood

Friday
night, The Wesleyan Center for the Arts in Middletown presents the Adventurous
string quartet ETHEL, teaming with GRAMMY Award-winning Taos Pueblo flutist and
Native American instrument maker Robert Mirabal to present The River. Also on
Friday night at the CFA: Visiting Assistant Professors Julie Mulvihill
and Joya Powell present Wrapped in Us, an evening of multidisciplinary,
visceral, risk-taking and performance, with a second showing on Saturday at

Through Tonight,
Hartford’s Real Art Ways continues the run of “Kasama: Infinity,” about the
radical artwork of Yayoi Kusama. Also continuing at RAW is “I Am Not a Witch,”
a fable about a Zambian girl accused of witchcraft, and “All About Nina,” a
tragicomedy about a female comedian. Friday, Real Art
Ways will screen five films: including: Liyana, Sadie, The Great Buster: A
celebration, Monrovia Indiana, and The Wife. Details and screening

Through Tonight,
Trinity College’s Cinestudio in Hartford is now showing BLACKKKLANSMAN, Spike
Lee’s film telling the incredible true story of an American hero. Friday,

At 6:30, its Imagine with Karen Stein offering 90 minutes of Peace through music.
from 8:00-9:30pm you can enjoy Evening Jazz with Bill Denert offering a broad range of swing, bebop and experimental sounds with a sprinkling of new releases, where "Hearing is the best experience"
at 9:30 Let's Get Quizzical with DJ Crybaby and MC Megastar brings you a radio talk show that features two hosts trying to confound their guests - and each other - through trivia.
From 10-11pm it's The American Empire with Yours Truly,
Tootse Mutants - an exploration of the influence of american cultural
imperialism on foreign music, such as Korean Hip-Hop, Japanese Jazz, Peruvian
Punk, and so much more.
Until midnight is This Just In with dj willy j, providing
soundtracks and reactions to the most eye-popping news stories of the week.
From midnight to 1, it's Jazzalicious Definition with DJ
Stocks'n'Socks and MC McGee. Jazzalicious travels through the history of jazz
by highlighting a different artist, sub-genre, or time period of each
week.
From 1-2am, DJ Jackson brings you the sonic hour - focusing
on indie rock, prog pop, power pop, indie pop, etcetera. The show will compare
music from a previous generation with its contemporaries.
Playing until 3 is What The Funk with DJ Jagged Little
Thrill and DJ Amoroso, exploring George Clinton's concept of "the
Funk," as it appears across genres and generations.
From 3-4am is the Hour Of Slack: Reverend Ivan Stang
presents his own commentary, along with recorded material from all SubGenius
radio and stage shows, bands, ranters, media barrage collage artists, and
selections from the indie audio underground created by various SubGenii and
others.
Rounding out the night from 4-5am is the BBC World
Report offering International news coverage and we kick off each weekday at 5am
with Morning Edition from NPR.
