Monday 03-05-18 Jive

Good evening, it's Monday, March 5th. This is the Jive at Five, our daily community calendar and rundown of nighttime programming here on 88.1 FM WESU Middletown. By day, WESU offers talk radio from NPR and Pacifica, as well as independent and local public affairs sources. Weeknights and weekends our student and community volunteers bring you the best in free-form programming.

I’m Maria Johnson, producer and host of Reasonably Catholic: Keeping the Faith, which airs every first, third and fifth Tuesday, from 4 to right before the Jive at Five. Tomorrow, a heads-up about two conferences of global importance – one which you can attend right up the street at the Hartford Seminary, and the other which is happening in Rome. The Hartford Seminary event on March 14th is an Interfaith Conference on Drone Warfare, a topic that our guest says is unfortunately somewhere around 44th on people's lists of priorities. Our other guest, talking to us from Rome,  describes for us the public relations dust-up that ensued when the Vatican crossed off three names from a list of presenters at an upcoming International Women’s Day event. One of them was the former president of Ireland! Can’t listen live? Find the audio archived tomorrow night at www.reasonablycatholic.com
