Good evening, it's Thursday June 28th. This is the Jive at Five, our daily community calendar and rundown of nighttime programming here on 88.1 FM WESU Middletown. By day, WESU offers talk radio from NPR and Pacifica, as well as independent and local public affairs sources. Weeknights and weekends our student and community volunteers bring you the best in free-form programming.

In Middletown The Middlesex Drum Circle meets at the buttonwood this Thursday. Friday, award-winning pop singer/songwriter Jann Klose (pronounced Yann Close) takes the Buttonwood Tree stage Friday night. The Aligned with Source Workshop happens Saturday morning, and The Buttonwood invites you to enjoy the Food Truck on the Farm music festival at Lyman Orchards with a Silent Auction to benefit The Buttonwood Tree from 11 am to 5 pm.  Funds raised will support the purchase of a new sound system for the Buttonwood. Back downtown, The Saturday evening show at The Buttonwood a features the Dialect Trio with Mario Pavone for a night of Jazz. www.buttonwood.org

Hartford’s Real Art Ways continues. “Summer 1993,” a Spanish film about grief and memory, and “The Most Unknown,” a documentary about science and discovery. Also continuing is “Adrift,” based on the true story of two sailors lost on the ocean after a hurricane. On Friday they open “Breath,” a coming of age story based in remote Australia, and “Five Seasons: The Gardens of Piet Oudolf,” a documentary of the artist/designer. Friday, and award-winning pop singer/songwriter Jann Klose (pronounced Yann Close) takes the Buttonwood Tree stage Friday night. The Aligned with Source Workshop happens Saturday morning, and The Buttonwood invites you to enjoy the Food Truck on the Farm music festival at Lyman Orchards with a Silent Auction to benefit The Buttonwood Tree from 11 am to 5 pm.  Funds raised will support the purchase of a new sound system for the Buttonwood.
