Here in Middletown tonight, The Buttonwood Tree hosts its
weekly Anything Goes Open Mic, with Ashley Hamel. On Tuesday, they have Gentle
Yoga with Theresa. Friday night brings a performance of Rosa Tatuata – A
Michela Musolino Ensemble, followed by a packed Saturday! In the morning it’s
the Aligned with Source workshop and meditation on personal development,
followed by Holiday Ornament Decorating at 12:30. In the evening, it’s the
Buttonwood’s Teen Open Mic and An Evening of West African Jazz Fusion with
Lorens Chuno.
In New Haven tonight at Café Nine’s Manic Mondays presents
The Talbott Brothers with Haunted Continents and Patrick Dalton of The Proud
Flesh. On Tuesday at the Nine, it’s Lee Dewyze playing with Frank Viele.
Wednesday brings the fifth annual Hip Hop for the Homeless, raising awareness
and funds for homeless populations in Connecticut. Lyon Street Fire take the
Nine stage with The Penniless Wild on Thursday. On Friday, Mike Hatfield plays
the Weekly Wind down Happy Hour, followed by Jason D. Williams and Buzz Gordo
of Bronson Rock. Saturday afternoon it’s the Jazz Jam Session with Tony
Dioguardi and Friends and Charlie Karp and the Name Droppers with Rocky
Lawrence in the evening. "The Sunday Buzz" Holiday Matinee at the
Nine brings Golden Microphone Holiday Ramble with The Hickups & Benny
Mikula in the afternoon, followed by Hatfield, Daniela Cardillo & Billy

Toad’s Place in New Haven headlines A Night of Smooth Jazz
with ROHN LAWRENCE & FRIENDS in Lilly’s Pad on Monday Night. Keller Williams
Pettygrass featuring The Hillbenders take Toad’s stage on Friday and Cupcake
performs on her Eden Tour on Saturday.
Up in Hartford at Black-Eyed Sally’s, Jazz Mondays brings
the Donald Byrd Birthday Celebration Featuring Haneef N. Nelson and More.
Michael Palin’s Other Orchestra plays Tuesday evening and on Wednesday it’s the
Community Blues Jam with Peter Byron. On Thursday at Sally’s is Liviu’s Jazz
Invitational and on Friday it’s the new Music Alliance’s Northeast Thunder

At the Russell Library in Middletown on Tuesday, there’s a
meeting of the Russell Readers in the Hubbard Room, discussing “Awaiting
Orders” by Tobias Wolff. On Wednesday afternoon, the library presents a
workshop on How to Deal With Grief During the Holidays, followed by Scrabble
Wednesday in the evening. On Thursdays at 6pm is an offsite book discussion of
Wishin’ and Hopin’, a Christmas Story, by Wally Lamb at Stubborn Beauty Brewing
in Middletown. At the library that day, there will be a workshop on tax changes
for 2018. On Sunday is a performance of a new play, Osaki-san, William
Gillette’s Gentlemen Valet. You have a chance to support the library and get
gifts for your loved ones at the Friends of Russell Library Book Sale, in the

Manic Presents is at the Space Ballroom all week. Tonight
they bring you Magician Adam Parisi with a variety of guests. Wednesday is old
‘97’s Holiday Extravaganza, with CASEYMAGIC and an acoustic set from Rhett

Wesleyan University’s Center for the Arts invites you to an
acapella performance by New Group, who are presenting a free show in Crowell
Concert Hall tonight at 6. On Tuesday, it’s the Mivos String Quartet at

At Infinity Hall Hartford you can enjoy an Open Mic in the
Bistro on Thursday and Kristen Capolino’s Mondial IV2 & Desiree Bassett in
the main room the same night. On Friday at Infinity Norfolk, it’s the Uprooted
Band with Michael Glabicki of Rusted Root. On Saturday afternoon, the Glenn
Miller Orchestra plays, followed by Aztec Two-Step featuring Rex Fowler and
Friends in the evening. Infinity Norfolk is closed Sunday for a private event.
At Infinity Hall Hartford, catch the Little River Band on Friday and A Father

TuneFest with the Out of Tune Collective. On Thursday, it’s the Polluter LP
Release Party, with Witch Hair & Sam Perduta. Friday, Ports of Spain has a

on Saturday with JOATA Ceschi, and Ani Cordero, and there’s a Holiday Freedom

Middletown Arts & Culture Office wants you to know that
special mailboxes will be set up in all 8 middletown elementary schools and the

Central Connecticut:
Hartford’s Real Art Ways continues its run of “Becoming
Astrid,” a Scandanavian film about the author of the Pippi Longstocking books,
and “Maria By Callas,” a look at the life story of the American/Greek Opera
Singer Maria Callas, through Thursday. On Friday, they open a run of An
Eternity’s Gate, a journey inside the world and mind of Vincent Van Gogh. Check

Trinity College’s Cinestudio in Hartford run Impulso,
a look at the avant garde performance and flamenco work of Rocίo Molina as she
rehearses for her Paris debut at the Chaillot National Theater. Cinestudio runs
Colette from Thursday through Saturday, a biographical film about the
French writer starring Keira Knightley. On Sunday, they open L’Atalante, a 1934
film about Newly married couple Juliette and ship captain Jean as they struggle
