Here in Middletown, AT THE BUTTONWOOD TREE on Main Street, Tonight the Buttonwood hosts an Americana Double Bill: with North Carolina’s Humble Tripe and Southern California’s Carolann Ames. Saturday night, The Lost Queen of New Orleans Soul, Singer Betty Harris and the Breaking News Band graces the Buttonwood stage for an 8pm show.  Every Sunday, Food Not Bombs shares food about 1 pm in front of the Buttonwood. All are welcome.  At 7:30 this Sunday evening, Coming to the Mic is a monthly open mic that is filmed in its entirety to be aired on Comcast TV. Tonight and tomorrow at 8pm, Real Art Ways in Hartford presents  Alix Lambert’s ”Crime, USA: Hartford”. A staged reading of a unique theatrical piece currently in development. Lambert uses verbatim interviews. www.realartways.org

Tonight only The Palkace Theater in Waterbury presents “The official Blues Brothers review” Starring Wayne Catania and Kieron Lafferty as “Jake & Elwood” in a live concert show that combines the comedy and hit songs from the original 1980 hit film, as well as the five popular albums put out by John Belushi and Dan Aykroyd. This Saturday at 11am until March 31, The Mac 650 Gallery in Middletown opens their gallery show, THE ART OF SPEED Part II. This is a Hot Rod and Custom car Culture Art show featuring over 80 works from more than 40 artists from around the globe.  There will be a closing Reception on March 31st from noon -5pm. This Sunday and occurring on the last Sunday each month at 10 am, Diane & Dave Downs perform their "Nouveau Croon" at Brew Bakers on Main St in Middletown.  The acoustic duet perform popular American music from the 1930's, 40's, 50's, 60's and into the 21st Century.

Friday at 7:30, The Connecticut Film Festival: presents "Confidence Game" at the Mark Twain house in Hartford. This is a documentary about what lead up to the Bear Stearns financial meltdown.  More can be found online at www.marktwainhouse.org

Cinestudio, the Trinity College Cinema in Hartford, is now showing "Tinker Tailer Soldier Spy", the adaptation of the classic spy novel of Cold War deception and betrayal. Tonight, Real Art Ways in Hartford begins a run of the new French film, Declaration of war, an  upbeat autobiographical drama about a young boy with brain cancer and the parents who pull together to fight for him.
