Here in Middletown tomorrow/Wednesday at 8, the Buttonwood hosts an evening of Belly Dance with Evening Oasis. Friday at 8, Songwriters Anitra Brooks and Eric Khun perform "Two of us", doing some songs by him, some by her, some by them both, and some by others. Saturday, at 8 there’s an Irish FUNraiser at the buttonwood, with Irish storytelling, Celtic tunes and baked treats from O’Rourke’s Diner.  On Sundays, Food Not Bombs shares food about 1 pm in front of the Buttonwood. All are welcome.  At 4pm this Sunday,  you can catch the Monthly Poetry Potluck, an opportunity for people who enjoy poetry to get together to share and discuss their favorite works. Later Sunday Evening, at 7, It's a release party for Gale B Garduner's new album ”‘Welcome Home’, a ‘journey thru genres’. Gale will be joined by special guests playing hammer dulcimer, mandolin, and penny whistle, with spoken word over piano.  More information about all of these events at www. Buttonwood.org  

now through Sunday, The Middletown Board of Education presents the annual Middletown public schools art exhibition, in Wesleyan’s  Zilkha Gallery. This show features hundreds of pieces of art created by Middletown youth grades K-12. Admission is Free and open to the public. on. This Wednesday at 7, the General Mansfield House on Main Street in Middletown is opening a display of World War II artifacts, along with a reception to honor veterans for their service. The display will be up through the Spring. This is a 'One Book, One Middletown' event, exploring themes in the book selected for 2012, 'Unbroken: A World War II Story of Survival, Resilience, and Redemption,' by Laura Hillenbrand. Tonight at Black Eyed Sally's night club in Hartford you can catch The Other Orchestra, an 18 piece big band jazz ensemble. Wednesday, its STEVE BALKUN  host Sally’s weekly BLUES JAM. Tonight at Cafe Nine in New Haven  there’s s a punk rock showcase with Pickpocket, West Rockers, and Sadplant. Wednesday DIE HIPSTER Presents UNPUNKED, featuring local punk rock bands gone acoustic. Thursday, The Field Recordings play Noise pop and experimental stoner rock. Friday, Leila Crockett and Lipgloss Crisis make for a night of Burlesque at Cafe Nine. Saturday’s,  afternoon Jazz Jam will be hosted by host Tony Dioguardi  this week.  Sat night brings A the annual ST. PATRICK'S DAY MASSACRE at to Café Nine, featuring some New York City Punk Rock heavyweight legends MANITOBA, with Dead City and JACQUES LE COQUE.  Sunday Dr. Sketchy’s Anti-Art School returns to Cafe Nine! Titanium Lounge o Main Street in Middletown is kicking off a new series of weekly live music events. Wednesdays is local band night, Thursdays feature live comedy and Friday nights are for live Jazz.  The Jazz series launches this Friday from 8 to 11 p.m. with renown trombonist Steve Davis and his quintet featuring, alto saxophonist Mike DiRubbo, pianist David Hazeltine, bassist Nat Reeves and drummer Joe Farnsworth. launches a new "Friday night Live Jazz Series" Friday at the.  Wednesday, at real arts ways in hartford, catch Inescapable Rythms, a poetry reading double-feature involving an English-to-English translation, during which two poets -- Joanna Solfrian and Inescapable Rhythms host, Kristin Kostick -- will interpret and re-write each other's poems and read them aloud. This Thursday is the third of the month and Brings Real Art Ways monthly Creative Cocktail hr offering a view of the current Gallery shows and a glimpse at this year’s upcoming Annual Odd Ball fundraiser.

Showing on Real Art Way's Silver Screen through Friday is Chico and Rita, an animated feature about how music and romantic desire unite a talented pianist and a beautiful singer.  Friday Real Art Ways kicks off a run of Bullhead a drama set in the world of illegal bovine steroids and hormones and mafioso meat trade deals. Tonight Cinestudio, Trinity College's movie theater in Hartford, ends their run of RICHARD III, a new addition to the works of Shakespeare on film set in the 1930s, as the British upper class flirts with fascism starring Ian McKellen's.  Wednesday through Saturday at Cinestudio, it’s The Descendants, in which George Clooney plays the wealthy scion of a Hawaiian royal family who discovers, after his wife is injured in a boating accident, that he knows little to nothing about his 10- and 17-year-old daughters, and clumsily tries to reconnect with them.

at 6, it's Your daily dose of alternative international news and reporting from the Pacifica Network on Free Speech Radio News. 

at 6:30-8pm – J- Cherry presents Voice of the City featuring live local arts and artists across all genres.

From 8-930pm, Acoustic Blender with Bill Revill, presents 90 minutes of Americana, country, folk, folk-rock, bluegrass, and other music that has a roots influence.

At 930pm It’s Wonderland with DJ Cheshire Cat, who’s got a song in his my heart, a chemical imbalance in his head and a musical library at his fingers. From krautrock to post-rock, grunge to garage, novelty to New Romantic, punk to prog, Wonderland has a place for it.

At 1am DJ B and DJ Stella, hosts of ‘City Spotlight’ hold down the fort until 4am. Their show features the musical talents of a new city each week, highlighting the unique contributions of each locale, and spanning genres from jazz to punk rock.

The BBC World News Service kicks on at 4AM and we begin tomorrow's broadcast at 5am with Morning Edition from NPR.
