On Wednesday, here in Middletown, it’s a electric gypsy tribal jazz show from the 2016 Musical Residency: The Grays. Thursday night, you can join the Middlesex Drum Circle for an evening of rhythm. Friday evening, Greg Wilfrid & Friends play music from their recent folk album “Dust and Soil.” On Saturday, it’s a morning class of Transitional Tai Chi followed by the Aligned with Source meditation guided by spiritual and holistic healer Annaita Gandhy. Saturday evening, Cathy Kreger and Caroline Doctorow are the Buttonwood’s musical guest. This Sunday is the first of May, and you can catch the May Art Show featuring Ryan Gallagan. Up in Hartford at Black-Eyed Sally’s, the weekly Wednesday Community Blues Jam Session will be hosted by Ed Bradley. Thursday night, it’s the second Round of the CTBS Annual Band Challenge.  Four blues bands compete each week for a chance to represent CT in the 33rd International Blues Challenge in Memphis. Thursday’s lineup includes sayWHAT?, Sadie & the Jumpcats, The Coffee Grinders and the Rich Badowski Blues Band. Friday evening Relative Souls play old school funk, new age, soul and rock at Black-Eyed Sally’s. Tonight at the Katharine Hepburn Cultural Arts Center in Old Saybrook, it’s a showing of the film Fragments, a look at abstract artist Ellsworth Kelly, co-sponsored by Lyme Academy College of Fine Arts. Wednesday evening, two-time Grammy nominated Kim Richey plays psychedelic, indie-pop. Musician Ken Yates opens the show. On Thursday, you can catch The New Christy Minstrels performing under the direction of Randy Sparks. At Russell Library here in Middletown, this week is Money Smart Week featuring several workshops on budgeting. Tonight from 6:00 to 8:00 you can catch the workshop Using Excel to Manage Your Investments. Tomorrow, Wednesday,  there is the afternoon workshop, Learn about Grants and Databases and an evening workshop on Social Security and Medicare. This Thursday morning, Russell Library hosts the Job Group at 9AM for a chance to network with other job seekers and receive advice from professionals. Thursday evening, the author of ‘To The Nines” speaks on the early history of golf courses in CT; The Veterans Writing Group also meets. This evening, up in Hartford at Real Art Ways, you can catch Louder than Bombs, starring Isabelle Huppert, Gabriel Bryne and Jesse Eisenberg. Showings through Thursday. Take Me To the River, a drama about a queer Californian teen trying to stay above the fray during his Nebraskan family reunion also plays Monday through Thursday. Tonight at Trinity College’s Cinestudio, it’s a showing of Argentine film El Clan. Tomorrow (Wednesday) The Revenant by Director Alejandro Inarritu and starring recent Oscar winner Leonardo DiCaprio about a fur-trapper’s fight for survival and revenge in the western frontier. Showings through Saturday. On Sunday, Cinestudio screens My Golden Days from acclaimed French director Arnaud Desplechin. In this coming of age story, a middle-aged professor returns to Paris after years abroad and is overwhelmed by memories of his childhood. At 8pm it’s a hour of The Voice of the CITY with J-Cherry, a weekly show featuring live and local Connecticut arts and music.


From 9-10:30 it's Radio Obscura. Joe McCarthy and Paco Winebox asked us to tell you that “You won't believe your eyes” when you listen to their show.


10:30-11:30pm The Laugh Infection with DJ Willie Zabar presents a comedy program showcasing standup from established comedians as well as original sketches and other on-air shtick.


From 11:30pm-12:30am Food Court Friends with Sierra Mist and Orange Julius offers an hour of punk and pop punk to bang your head and let out some teen angst to.


At 12:30 you can catch an hour of The Chillin Factory with Noah G. and DJ so Fresh So Clean providing quality hip hop analysis and dissection.


At 1:30 Rhyme and Reason with DJ Tanner and Yung 2 Centz craft a playlist inspired by pre-selected poems.


From 2:30-3:30am RootsWorld Radio with Cliff Furnald explores music from around the world.


At 3:30, Shortwave Report with Dan Roberts from Pacifica gives a weekly review of news stories from around the world.


BBC World news comes your way from 4 to 5am, followed by Morning Edition from NPR.

This Saturday and Sunday, the 2016 Daffodil Festival returns to Meriden's Hubbard Park, offering three stages jam-packed with Connecticut homegrown bands, food and fun for the family. Chef Sentaro cooks dorayaki pancakes using the delicious red bean paste without enthusiasm, but his sad life is transformed when an eccentric old woman signs on as his assistant at the bakery. Right after the Jive At Five from 5:05-6 pm, it'll be Wild Wild Live with Ethan and Rachel. A sneak peek into the magical live music scene of Wes. Tune in for in-station sets from campus bands and recordings of up-and-coming artists' campus shows.

From 6 to 6:30pm it's Progress for the Planet w/Eric Hagen. Environmental news with a pro-green stance, including some environmentalist music from a variety of genres.
          
From 6:30-7pm it's the Middletown Youth Radio Project. A weekly radio program featuring the thoughts, voices, creativity and talent of the kids in the WESU neighborhood.

At 7 until 8:30pm we have the Universal Sound Wave with Sistah Tee - offering listeners a wide range of music including African, reggae, gospel, R&B, Latin, and blues. Plus health, nutrition, and stress reduction tips.

Next up until 10pm, we take it From the Otherside with Rok-A-Dee where 60% of the show is love songs of different genre and the others Reggae Dancehall, R&B, and new artiste.    
                                                        
Then from 10 to 11pm it's People, Places and Things with jackalope. Each week brings a new theme, each theme brings an exciting smorgasbord of songs relating to it.

That's followed until Midnight by Easy List-ening with DJ Rebag whose lists, particularly at their most strange and offbeat, can be some of the best ways to organize countless songs. He tackles something new each week.

At Midnight until 3am Saturday we go into OVERDRIVE w/Clarence & Shantay Scott - offering Urban Contemporary, Hip Hop, and Traditional gospel music.

And then, from 3 until 5am you are taken to Wonderland with DJ Cheshire Cat, who has
a song in his heart, a chemical imbalance in his head and a musical library at his fingers. From krautrock to post-rock, grunge to garage, novelty to New Romantic, punk to prog, Wonderland has a place for it.

And we bring in the daylight from 5:00 to 6:00am with the

And staying on the other side of the big pond, from 6:00 to 7:00am it’s
 the Celtic Café
 with Pat Laffan and Mark Gallagher presenting traditional and contemporary music with a Celtic connection.
