calendar and rundown of nighttime programming, here on 88.1 FM WESU Middletown.
By day, WESU offers talk radio from NPR and Pacifica, as well as independent
and local public affairs sources. Weeknights and weekends our student and
community volunteers bring you the best in free-form programming.

Despite concerns about
the spread of corona virus, there are still many events happening across the
region. However, we still recommend that you check ahead with venues before
venturing out, as many events are being cancelled or postponed. Also be sure to
wash your hands and keep them to yourself! Here's some of what's happening in our area
this week:
At the Buttonwood
Tree in Middletown, the genre-bending band South for Winter takes the stage tonight,
and on Friday The Buttonwood features blues rock by Parker’s Tangent. The
Aligned With Source workshop happens Saturday morning at The Buttonwood,
followed by All the Write Ways: A Workshop for Self-Expression at 1 pm. Erin
Earth and Cazz takes the stage Saturday night with their New Orleans-style
music. There’s a Reiki Level 2 class at The Buttonwood Tree on Sunday, and you
can view the current exhibition throughout the month that includes the
photography of Ryan Martin Callanan and Heather Cohn. www.buttonwood.org
In New Haven, at
Café Nine, tonight/Thursday they bring you Juicebox Batter. Friday’s 5pm Happy
Hour features the Outlaw Unofficial Non-Sanctioned St. Pat’s Parade Hooley, and
in later Friday night evening they’ve got Service Dog, Every Branch, and Pulsr.
The Café nine Saturday
afternoon Jazz Jam Session is led by Gary Grippo, followed by the Saturday
night main event with Fate and Dose the Well. Sunday morning it’s the St.
Patrick’s Day Parade Party with The Jovial Crew, and they round out the weekend

At Black-Eyed
Sally’s in Hartford, Liviu’s Invitational with a special guest comes your way
on Thursday nights. On Friday, Bobby T’s Allstars play and on Saturday Christine

Up in Hartford tonight,
Twang Thursdays presents Honeysuckle at Hog River Brewing Co, 1429 Park St.
On Friday,
singer/songwriter Kelly English performs from noon to 1 in the lobby of City
Place 1, 185 Asylum St, and at 5:30, on the third floor of the Hartford Public
Library downtown branch, where there will be an opening reception for Lost in
Color, an exhibition of black and white Hartford street photography by Erik
Williams. From 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., on Saturday, the St. Patrick’s Day Parade

Tonight / Thursday
at 7 p.m., author Chad C. Betz will discuss "Late Bloomer: It’s Not Too
Late To Succeed!" at Wesleyan RJ Julia Bookstore in Middletown. They offer

Middletown’s Russell
Library has cancelled their Books and Brews meeting at Stubborn Beauty Brewing as
well as their Wicked Big Book Sale preview tonight as well as the sale

Manic Presents brings
Aquanett to the Spaceland Ballroom in Hamden tonight. They’ve got Oso, Prince

At the State
House in New Haven, there’s Blacklight Glow Party Featuring Nikita, Falconeer,
and Forest Room tonight/Thursday. On Friday, it’s Surf Night with Ninth Wave,
Renegade Lounge, The Clams, and the Aquatudes at the State House. The Pist,
WARXGAMES, Chem-Trails, Nightmare Solution, and World Game take the stage on
Saturday, and you can celebrate St. Patrick’s Day on Sunday with Mickey

Hartford brings you Stop Making Sense, a tribute to the Talking Heads, on

Hartford’s Real
Art Ways is showing “Portrait of a lady on Fire,” about a forbidden affair
between an 18th century aristocrat and a painter commissioned to paint her
portrait, through Thursday. Check their website for show times and this

Tonight, Trinity
College’s Cinestudio Out Film CT Queer Thursdays feature is: “And Then We Danced,” a passionate
coming-of-age tale and on Friday and Saturday, they’re showing “Just Mercy,”
the true story of a lawyer who represents two men on Death Row: one innocent,
and one guilty. On Sunday, they open a run of “Clemency,” about a Death Row
prison matron who is cracking under the horrors of her job. Sunday evening,
there’s a single presentation of the Royal Opera House’s “La Boheme.” Full
