Here's a rundown of what's going down in our area this week.
Thursday at The Buttonwood Tree in Middletown it’s Bob Gotta’s long running Acoustic Open Mic. You can enjoy R&B and light pop on Friday with Indigo Soul, along with Americana performed by Tiny Ocean. The Aligned with Source Workshop is on Saturday morning at 10:30 am, and jazz with the Castlefield Trio is on the bill for Saturday night. On Sunday, NEAR and Far Storytellers takes the stage at 7 pm. The Hearing Voices Network meets Monday mornings at 10:30. http://buttonwood.org/
In New Haven at CafĂ© Nine tonight/Wednesday, they headline Hi-definition and Cesar Comache, appearing with Paranormal Adam. On Thursday it’s The Joiner Inners, The Right Offs, and Zero Years. Friday’s Wind Down Happy Hour features Mr. Heartbreak, followed by the late show with Pink Navel, Old Self, Zak G, and Chef the Chef. Saturday’s Jazz Jam Session is with Gary Grippo & Friends, followed by a Record Release Show with Charlie Karp & The Name Droppers, appearing with Howard Jeffrey. Lea and Swamp Yankee. This Saturday, here in Middletown, Oddfellows playhouse invites you to their Second Summer Fling - fun-raiser and FUND-raiser for Playhouse Programs! Zydecats will bring their brand of zydeco music and there will be lots of room to dance. Plus there will be food from local restaurants and Special Guest - film director and OP Alum Keith Bearden. Hartford’s Real Art Ways continues the run of “Dawson City: Frozen Time,” rare silent films from the early 20th century about a Canadian Gold Rush town. Also continuing is “Monterey Pop,” a documentary celebrating the 50th anniversary of this iconic Summer of Love concert, as well as “The Wedding Plan,” about an Orthodox Jewish woman looking for a marriage partner.
