At RUSSELL Library this week, All Sewn Up will be held on Tuesday, April 25, 3:00pm – 5:00pm in the Hubbard Room, teaching basic clothing maintenance and repair. The Classic Mystery Book Discussion group will be reading Whose Body? this week, and meeting on Tuesday, April 25, 12:00pm – 1:00pm to discuss. Also this week is the Middletown World War I Digitization Day on Thursday, April 27. In an effort to help preserve this significant piece of our history, the Russell Library will be partnering with the Connecticut State Library’s Remembering World War One: Sharing History/Preserving Memories project to hold a digitization day event. The event Healthy Me, Healthy Start is on Fridays, a free early childhood nutrition program designed to support parents in establishing healthy eating habits in their young children. On Saturday, attend How to find a grant - Learn about Grants Databases Available at the Russell Library in Meeting Room 3. On Saturday evening there's Yoga In The Hubbard Room. Tonight, the Buttonwood Tree in Middletown offers Moments of Gratitude and a weekly open mic. Tonight is also the Bruce Blackman Fundraiser Art Sale running April 6 - April 30. The collection is titled "Pieces of the Moment" and features his abstract collage art. 100% of proceeds go to the performing art center. Tuesday has weekly afternoon yoga, and Thursday is the Middlesex drum circle. Friday features folk artists Kristen Graves and Natalie Gelman. Saturday is Aligned with the Source as well as 71 Strings, Three Men, and a Concertina featuring Larry Kaplan, Dave Paton, and Tom White returning to the Buttonwood Tree with a special mix of contemporary songs as traditional music from around the world accompanied on at least nine instruments, but not all at once…Sunday has John Basinger's Paradise Lost: Book 4. John recites from memory Book 4 of John Milton's epic story of the Garden of Eden, Paradise Lost.

Tonight in New Haven at Café Nine, catch Monthly Mondays with Frank Critelli. This Local legendary songwriter hosts a Monthly series with some of his favorite artists in unique and sometimes unorthodox formats. Frank Critelli writes songs, and He dabbles in haiku and other short poetry. Tuesday is Eilen Jewell with Miss Tess and ; The Talkbacks, and Seth Adam. Wednesday, see vocalist Sophie Auster with SEE. SEE is a twenty y ear old singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist from Long Island, NY. After teaching herself the drums, guitar , bass, piano, and more, she began writing original songs at the age of 15 and eventually became a primary songwriter and drummer for an alternative indie rock band based out of Long Island. Thursday is Western Estates, Straight To VHS, and Witch Hair, and DW Ditty plays at the Weekly Wind Down Happy Hour on Friday. Later that night, GO KAT GO! Presents THE 5.6.7.8'S and Sasquatch (Solo), as well as Bloodshot Bill. Saturday's Jazz Jam Session is with Billy Cofrances this week, and ELM CITY FOLK FESTIVAL
brings in Michael Hunton, Oh, Cassius, Rusty Things, The Can Kickers, and The Goddamn River later on.

Wesleyan’s Center for the Arts presents the fourth week of the Senior Thesis Exhibition Receptions, opening on Wednesday, April 26, 2017 at 4:00pm. On Monday, watch the Ebony Singers Spring Concert, 8:00pm in the Crowell Concert Hall. The Ebony Singers are a study of African-American religious music through the media of performance. The areas of study consist of traditional gospel, contemporary gospel, spirituals, and hymns in the African-American tradition. Between Charms: Piano Recital by Yvonne Troxler will take place on Tuesday, April 25, in Russell House. Thursday sees Senior Talks in the History of Art in Boger Hall. Here, Seniors in the Art History Program of Wesleyan's Department of Art and Art History present their thesis talks. Thursday, Advanced Javanese Gamelan performs in the World Music Hall, and the Wesleyan Jazz Orchestra and Jazz Ensemble plays on Friday. The Spring Dance Concert will be held on Friday, April 28, 2017 at 8:00pm in the Patricelli '92 Theater.

Acid Mothers Temple has a floating line-up with contributions from many members of the AMT Soul Collective, and an ever-changing sound. Honeysuckle is a progressive folk act that blends older influences and traditional instrumentation with modern effects and inspiration. Saturday, Manic Presents:: MONO and Holy Sons at The Ballroom at The Outer Space. The Tokyo, Japan based 4 piece Instrumental Rock band MONO was originally formed in 1999. Their unique approach of blending orchestral arrangements and shoegaze guitar noise in their music has been highly influential. Tomorrow also plays through this week, a film about French actress and director Mélanie Laurent who decided to travel the world in search of solutions that can help save the next generations. The result is Tomorrow, an inspiring documentary that presents concrete solutions implemented throughout the world by hundred of communities. in A Quiet Passion, Cynthia Nixon delivers a triumphant performance as Emily Dickinson as she personifies the wit, intellectual independence and pathos of the poet whose genius only came to be recognized after her death. A Quiet Passion plays through the weekend.

Trinity College’s Cinestudio in Hartford is showing I Am Not Your Negro Monday-Weds, a film on author, black activist and gay icon James Baldwin. T2 Trainspotting plays Thurs-Sat, depicting Edinburgh’s underworld and how it has changed as director Danny Boyle and the original cast drop in 20 years after Trainspotting’s original glory. Sunday plays Personal Shopper, the tale of a young American working as the personal shopper to an obnoxiously wealthy socialite in Paris, and trying to connect with her dead twin at the same time.
