Here's a rundown of what's happening in our area this week:
Here in Middletown, at the Buttonwood Tree, on Thursday the Cintamani groove band brings you fusion world music. On Friday it’s the Michelle Canning Band, performing songs from their new album, “The Flower and the Serpent,” along with original pieces and traditional bluegrass. Saturday morning Mike McEwen brings you transitional tai chi, followed by the Aligned with Source workshop. Saturday night Hartford native Warren Byrd premiers new work including a musical tribute to master poet John Farris. The International Women’s Day art exhibit continues through the month. www.buttonwood.org
Down in New Haven, at CafĂ© Nine, tonight, they bring you A Tribute to Jason Molina. On Thursday Cafe Nine headlines Pat Stone & The Dirty Boots, appearing with Justin Chadbourne, and Tracy Jo and the Toads. Friday’s Weekly Wind Down Happy Hour features The Tommy’s, followed by the evening show with Sniper 66, Haste, Blastmat, and Thrust. Saturday’s Jazz Jam Session is with Tony Dioguardi & Friends, followed by a late show with Purling Hiss, Stove, Blessed State, Hellrazor, and Lea. The Sunday Buzz at Cafe Nine features the Bakun Brothers, followed by Landing, Kindling, and Human Pontiac for the Sunday evening offering. www.cafenine.com
Up in Hartford at Black-Eyed Sally’s, it's the Wednesday weekly Community Blues Jam with Ed Bradley this week. Thursday evening, the month-long Strange Creek “Battle of the Bands” continues. On Friday Bearly Dead takes the stage, highlighting the music of The Grateful Dead. Saturday, they headline blues challenge-winner The Mike Crandall Band, with blues, swing, jump, and more. Here in Middletown, the Russell Library offers their weekly Veteran's Writing Group every Thursday at 7. On Saturday at 2, renowned author and psychiatrist Dr. Lloyd Sederer speaks on How Families Can Help their Loved One with a Mental Illness. On Sunday, the Middletown Art Academy hosts an opening reception for their artwork exhibit “Water for People, Water by People,” in celebration of World Water Day. The exhibit runs through April. At Infinity Hall in Hartford, it’s the Concert for Kym to benefit the Connecticut ALS Association of CT this evening, introducing two classic rock bands along with special guest Tammy Tanner. On Thursday it’s the Boston Irish Comedians St. Patty’s Day Spectacular, with Jack Lynch, Joey Carroll, Steve Macone and Mike Prior. On Friday they headline Who’s Bad: The World’s Only Sanctioned Tribute to Michael Jackson. On Saturday they bring the David Bromberg Quintet to the stage. Oddfellow’s Playhouse in Middletown concludes their 2 week run of thier production of Shakespeare's “A Comedy of Errors” this week. Show times are at 7:30 Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Up in Hartford, Real Art Ways is screening “Embrace of the Serpent,” exposing the effects of Western colonialism over four decades on the Amazon, tonight through tomorrow with 4:30 screenings. Also running through Thursday is “The Wave,” an intense environmental thriller set in a popular Norwegian tourist town. On Saturday they open “Only Yesterday,” a new English-language version of the 1982 Japanese animated film about a young woman who revisits her past on a trip to her relatives in the countryside. www.realartways.org
Trinity College’s Cinestudio presents a run of “Room,” starring Academy Award-winner Brie Larson, about a mother and her son imprisoned in a single room by a brutal kidnapper. It runs through the weekend. www.cinestudio.org

From 6-6:30 it's a half-hour of automated music from Pacifica and then we start the 6:30 slot with Fusion Radio with James Fusion until 8pm with the best Techno mix on radio.
From 8 to 9:30 it’s The Warehouse with Mike Nyce, bringing you deep underground sounds mixed live for your listening pleasure.
From 9:30-11pm its The Vault with DJ Anton Banks presenting the latest in hard techno, minimal, tech-house and leftfield mixed live. Also featuring exclusive music from international artists.
From 11 to 11:30 it's another half-hour of automated music from Pacifica.
And from 11:30 to midnight, it's the new Wesleyan production of Hydrus. In case you missed it last night, catch up on HYDRUS with their second episode!
