Infinity Hall brings in the new year at their Norfolk venue with a performance by The Allman Neville Pitchell Band with Special Guest Saagar Ace. An annual New Year's Eve Contra Dance starts at 8 p.m. and winds down about 12:30 a.m. in the ballroom of the West Hartford Town Hall, 50 S. Main St. Bob Isaacs will call to the music of the Celtic Wild Notes. A potluck is planned for 6:30. www.hcdance.org

Up in Hartford at Real Art Ways, through Dec 31, They continue their run of Peggy Guggenheim: Art Addict a documentary about the colorful character who was not only ahead of her time but helped to define it. Also showing through Thursday at Real Art Ways is Janis: Little Girl Blue in which Academy Award-nominated filmmaker Amy Berg (Deliver Us from Evil) delves into the life of late rock legend Janis Joplin. Friday Real Art Ways begins a run of NOMA: My Perfect Storm, A documentary about the celebrated chef René Redzepi, set against the backdrop of the Copenhagen-based restaurant NOMA, named the Best Restaurant in the World in 2010, 2011, 2012, and 2014. From 1:30-2:30, you can catch The Weirding Way with DJ Atreides. With new soundscapes each show, it's the expression of thoughts through sound in a cross-genre exploration of a sonic mood with an indie/alternative focus.


From 2:30-4, it's People, Places and Things with Jackalope. Each week brings a new theme, each theme brings and exciting smorgasbord of songs relating to it.

Up in Hartford at Real Art Ways, through Dec 31, They continue their run of Peggy Guggenheim: Art Addict a documentary about the colorful character who was not only ahead of her time but helped to define it. Also showing through Thursday at Real Art Ways is Janis: Little Girl Blue in which Academy Award-nominated filmmaker Amy Berg (Deliver Us from Evil) delves into the life of late rock legend Janis Joplin. Friday Real Art Ways begins a run of NOMA: My Perfect Storm, A documentary about the celebrated chef René Redzepi, set against the backdrop of the Copenhagen-based restaurant NOMA, named the Best Restaurant in the World in 2010, 2011, 2012, and 2014. From 6-6:30 its Think Twice Radio reasserting the "watchdog" role of the media by ramping up coverage of Connecticut issues in a nonpartisan manner
Then at  6:30-8, it’s  75% Folk with Michael Benson.
From 8-9:30 p.m. it’s  Unfocused Folk with Chip Austin offering Americana music from Nashville and around the world including Folk, acoustic Country and roots-Rock from both emerging and veteran artists.

Chip keeps the Americana going till 11, when Franco takes over, bringing music and more from Italy.

Next up at 1 a.m. it’s an hour of Word on the Hill with DJ Breej, providing a platform for silenced minorities on campus to discuss a specific struggle and how it relates them to Wesleyan and beyond.
From 2 to 3 a.m. it’s Radio Roulette with DJ McLeary who, with mom's record collection and WESU's vinyl vault,  explores an eclectic selection of music in the onsite library.
From 3 to 4 a.m. it’s Maximum Rock and Roll for a late night dose of loud rock and roll!

BBC World news comes your way from 4 to 5 a.m., followed by Morning Edition from NPR.

In New Haven at Cafe Nine, Saturday’s weekly Jazz Jam Session is with the George Baker Band. Saturday night brings classic soul, rhythm, and blues from 
Kevin St. James & The Crown Street Orchestra at 9 pm. Sunday's Matinee features proto-punk and psychedelic intrigue from Lamb Bombs and The Natch at 3 pm. Sunday, Café Nine welcomes Wisconsin-based sing and songwriter Kirby Jayes along with Sam Perduta. See the complete schedule at www.cafenine.com

At The Buttonwood Tree in Middletown on Saturday, Antony Digennaro and Tommy Monaghan present "Music for 32 Goats" at 8 pm. Throughout December at The Buttonwood Tree, Artists for World Peace presents the exhibition "ART for LIFE" featuring photographs of Tanzania and Uganda by Claudia Paul and Lonzo Lowery,as well as paintings by Lorelei Chang and Kamar Thomas. And now let’s take a look at tonight’s programming on WESU.

Right after the Jive At Five from 5:05-6 pm, it'll be Wild Wild Live with Ethan and Rachel. A sneak peek into the magical live music scene of Wes. Tune in for in-station sets from campus bands and recordings of up-and-coming artists' campus shows.

From 6 to 6:30pm it's Progress for the Planet w/Eric Hagen. Environmental news with a pro-green stance, including some environmentalist music from a variety of genres.
          
From 6:30-7pm it's the Middletown Youth Radio Project. A weekly radio program featuring the thoughts, voices, creativity and talent of the kids in the WESU neighborhood.

At 7 until 8:30pm we have the Universal Sound Wave with Sistah Tee - offering listeners a wide range of music including African, reggae, gospel, R&B, Latin, and blues. Plus health, nutrition, and stress reduction tips.

Next up until 10pm, we take it From the Otherside with Rok-A-Dee where 60% of the show is love songs of different genre. The other 40% is Reggae Dancehall, R&B, and new artiste.    
                                                        
Then from 10pm - midnight, we go In the Master Bedroom, Under the Bed with
Dope Dave
– where downtempo
poets and acrobatic emcees weave lyricism through various soundscapes.

At Midnight until 3am Saturday we go into OVERDRIVE w/Clarence & Shantay Scott - offering Urban Contemporary, Hip Hop, and Traditional gospel music.

And then, from 3 until 5am you are taken to Wonderland with DJ Cheshire Cat, who has
a song in his heart, a chemical imbalance in his head and a musical library at his fingers. From krautrock to post-rock, grunge to garage, novelty to New Romantic, punk to prog, Wonderland has a place for it.

And we bring in the daylight from 5:00 to 6:00am with the 
BBC World News 
- a daily News roundup from the British Broadcasting Corporation

And staying on the other side of the big pond, from 6:00 to 7:00am it’s
 the Celtic Café
 with Pat Laffan and Mark Gallagher presenting traditional and contemporary music with a Celtic connection.

And now that the coffee’s hot enjoy Caffé Italia from 7:00 to 8:00am, serving up a slice of Italy every Saturday morning. You don't have to speak Italian to taste it: just relax, listen, and enjoy!
