Here’s a rundown of some of what’s going on in our area this week:
Tonight the Buttonwood Tree reopens after being closed for renovations and invites you to join Enzo Boscarino at 7pm for VIVA ITALY: A narrative and music Musical Tour of Italy’s regions. A portion of the proceeds from this event will support WESU 75th anniversary capital campaign. Saturday at 10:30 a.m. the Aligned with Source workshop continues, featuring spiritual and holistic healer Annaita Gandhi. The topic is “Living in the Light.” On the stage Saturday at 7, a variety of artists will present “Gilbert and Sullivan Highlights. www.buttonwood.org.
Also tonight here in Middletown, Scatz Restaurant and Jazz Lounge presents the
R&B group ADL performing at 8:30. Tomorrow/Saturday, the Scatz Comedy Show

Every Friday, at 9 p.m., Dave Downs hosts a weekly open mic here
in Middletown at The Nest, located at 129 Church Street. Songwriters are

Tonight at Blackeyed Sally’s in Hartford, they’ve got the Brandt Taylor Band, playing blues with elements of funk, soul, old school country, and rock. Tomorrow/ Saturday, Brooklyn’s Trinity takes the stage at 4 with her All Ages Show, followed at 9 by Tommy Whalen & the Ragged Edge, playing blues, rock, soul, and funk. www.blackeyedsallys.com

Down at New Haven, at Café Nine, tonight’s entertainment begins at 5 with Irish folk artist Sean Conlon. Later at 9omFive Stories Falling, Moving Brooklyn, and Chaser Eight share a bill at Café Nine. Saturday afternoon Café Nine’s weekly jazz jam session will be hosted by Billy Cofrances. Tomorrow night at 9pm you can catch Elison Jackson, Kindred Queer, and Analog Sunset. On Sunday at 4, there’s a bluegrass jam with Stacy Phillips, and the Café Nine original Sunday Night Jam features The Cobalt Rhythm Kings this week. www.cafenine.com.

Along with the end of summer, CT offers many agricultural fairs across the state. This weekend brings the Haddam Neck Fair to the Haddam Neck Fairgrounds. With Traditional agricultural exhibits & contests, Tractor, Truck, and draft animal pullinng cxompetitions, a carnival midway, fair court and more, this fair kicks off Friday evening and is open through Monday. Musical entertainment for this year includes, reunions of 2 local rock bands, “The Bus” and “Fountain head”, plus Good Night Blue Moon, Shakedown, Mark Mercier and friends, and Aztec Two Step. stage show, about the life, times and music of the legendary American folk

Tonight, Real Art Ways in Hartford, starts a run of “Frank,” a comedy about a young wannabe musician who joins an eccentric pop band, which continues through Sunday. Also on the screen at Real Art Ways this weekend is “Jealousy,” a French drama about how a man’s life changes when he decides to leave his wife and daughter. www.realartways.org
tonight, Cinestudio, the Trinity College cinema in Hartford, opens a run of “Begin Again,” starring Keira Knightley and Mark Ruffalo in a drama about New York musicians trying to reconcile integrity and success. www.cinestudio.org.
