Here in Middletown at The Buttonwood Tree, there’s an
Acoustic Open Mic with Bob Gotta tonight, and the TJ Thompson Trio plays jazz
and more at the Buttonwood on Friday. The Aligned With Source Workshop happens
Saturday morning, and in the afternoon you’re invited to an Opening Reception
for the Cathy Valley art exhibit. Enjoy Americana, folk, and more on Saturday

In New Haven at Café Nine tonight, you can catch Strawberry
Cheesesteak, Pious Mantis, and In Full Effect. The Friday headliner is Zero
Years, appearing with Ports of Spain and Pearl Sugar. Saturday’s Jazz Jam
Session is with Garry Grippo & Friends, followed by the evening show with
Tiny Ocean, Oberon Rose, and Murderous Chanteuse. The Sunday Buzz Matinée
brings you Pete Mancini, Frank Critelli, and Brian Dolzani, and they round out

Up in Hartford at Black-Eyed Sally’s tonight, it’s Liviu’s
Invitational on Thursday with special guests. You can catch blues, country,
and more on Friday with The Redliners, and on Saturday The Cartells are in the
house with jazz, swing, Motown and more; bring your dancing shoes. The New
England Winter Blues Festival happens at Sally’s on Sunday, starting at 4

The Russell Library in Middletown hosts an offsite book discussion
today at Stubborn Beauty Brewery to talk about “Small Hours” by Jennifer

Middletown Arts & Culture Office announces The Joe Bun
Keo art installation and exhibit, Silence Like Lasagna, is open at the
Middlesex Community College, and there’s an Opening Reception this evening on
campus. And SAP, Grayling, Jared Knapik, and Carlos Danger appear at the MAC
650 Gallery & Artist Co-Op Friday at 7 pm. On Saturday, the MAC hosts a
record release event with Tier, Ryan White, and No Stranger. The Recreation
Division invites you to a Family Valentine’s Day event Saturday at the Senior
and Community Center where you can make valentines for senior veterans and
enjoy games and refreshments. They’ve also got workshops to make wind chimes
and sun catchers. The reschedule date for the Middletown Teen Talent Search is
this Saturday at Oddfellow’s Playhouse. There will be cash prizes. And don’t

The Wesleyan Center for the Arts in Middletown sponsors an
Opening Reception for the exhibit “Bestiary” this evening at the Davison Art
Center. The premier performance of joyUsjustUS, an urban Latin dance experience
with CONTRA-TIEMPO, happens Friday at the CFA Theater. There’s a memorial
celebration on Saturday at The Russell House to honor Jon Barlow and his legacy
in music and the liberal arts, as well as a guided exhibition tour of Audible
Bacillus at the Zilkha Gallery. The third annual Wesleyan FluteFest Concert
happens Sunday evening at Crowell Concert Hall. All events are

Seth Adams performs at Spectra Wired Café’s Acoustic
Thursdays event tonight. There’s a Pasos & Connections Latin dance class
this evening at the Hartford Public Library, as well as an opening reception for the
Hartford Hip-Hop exhibition. Little River Restoratives hosts an Off the Record
Indie Night tonight at 9:30 pm. It’s Second Saturdays for Families this week at
the Wadsworth Atheneum Museum of Art. Enjoy free admission, story-telling,
music, and more. And the Connecticut Historical Society invites you to a
special behind the scenes tour, “Love and Lust,” this Saturday. The Sarah
Hanahan Quintet performs at the Hartford Public Library on Sunday at 3 pm in
their ongoing Baby Grand Jazz series. The Connecticut Science Center in
Hartford invites you to enjoy the Sock Skating Rink open daily throughout the

Manic Presents is at the Space Ballroom in Hamden tonight
with Tim Reynolds & TR3. Upstate and Belle of the Fall take the Space stage
on Saturday, and on Sunday you can catch Dysrhythmia, Cleric, and Pyrrhon. On
Saturday, they’ve also got The Wall Live Extravaganza at the College Street

Infinity Hall in Hartford brings you blues and blues rock on
Friday with Walter Trout and Eric Gales. Folk/rock legend Don McLean takes the
stage on Saturday. At Infinity Norfolk, it’s Open Mic in the Bistro tonight, and on Friday they bring you Al Jardine, a founding member of The Beach
Boys. Their Sunday Sessions live music in the Bistro features Sweet Lorraine

Now here's a rundown of cinema off the beaten track in
Central Connecticut:
Hartford’s Real Art Ways continues ““Free Solo,” a documentary
about climbing El Capitan without a rope, and “The Invisibles,” a German
docudrama about four real-life Jews hiding in plain sight in WWII Berlin. Also
continuing is a special one-week showing of “The Original Laurel and Hardy
Restored,” featuring five shorts from the UCLA archives. They open their annual
Oscar-nominee short film series on Friday in categories including Animation,
Documentary, and Live Action. Check the website for details and screening

Trinity College’s Cinestudio holds a one-night screening of
“Boy Erased,” about a gay man sent to a conversion camp, tonight. On Friday
they open a run of “A Star is Born,” with Bradley Cooper and Lada Gaga.
Sunday’s matinée is “Young Picasso,” as part of their Exhibition On Screen
series, and in the evening they open a run of “Shoplifters,” a film about a

It’s LGBTQ Movie Night at the Tisane Euro-Asian Café in
Hartford to night. It’s a free event open to 21+ viewers. If you can’t make it
