Good evening, it's Wednesday, June 20th. This is the Jive at Five, WESU's Daily community calendar and run down of night time programming here on 88.1 FM WESU Middletown. Here in Middletown Middletown every third Wednesday from June to October, 5-8 pm you can join the Middletown Gallery Walk for an opportunity to visit North End Galleries, Shops, and Restaurants who are collaborating to offer this community event in Middletown’s Arts District. Tonight down in New Haven at Toad’s Place, it’s their weekly dubstep dance party. Thursday Reggae Legend Beres (sounds like Barris) Hammond will be performing on the main stage.  Friday Night Hip Hop Emcee Action Bronson will be headlining a show featuring local Hip Hop acts Duece Bug, Phenom and Rowdy City at 8pm.  Saturday night Fuel, VENREZ, Bad Axis and Progmatic make for a night of loud Rock at Toads. Also down in New Haven tonight, Manic Productions Presents JEFF The Brotherhood w/ Uncle Bad Touch and 2 Ton Bug at Café Nine. Thursday at 9pm Indie Rock band Baby Grand Perform w/ Fightwinner at Cafe Nine. On Friday Night TACO HUT MUSIC Presents • The Proud Flesh, Speakeasy, Heads With Wings, and White Walls. Café nine’s Saturday afternoon Jazz Jam will be hosted by Gary Grippo and Friends this week. Saturday Night brings the Idiot Village Rock Lottery; Musicians thrown together by fate and given two weeks to get their act together and perform live. More online at www.cafenine.com

Tonight at  Black Eyed Sally’s in Hartford you can catch TOMMY WHALEN hosting their weekly BLUES JAM session. Friday Night. Guitarist Joe Moss and Band perform Saturday night, McDonald Teague Band perform their blues infused rock show. www.blackeyedsallys.com

This Thursday night continues this season's Thursday Night "Jazz on the River " series at Mattabesett Canoe Club at Harbor Park in Middletown.  The Josh Gosselin Trio  will be performing.
This Thursday Real Art Ways presents their monthly Creative Cocktail hour. They will be celebrating gallery show Openings for artists: Samuel ROWLETT, Dave SINAGUGLIA, and Ken MORGAN with Music by with DJ MAL and and BATED BREATH providing bite size theatre performances. www.realartways.org

Friday evening at the Buttonwood tree here in Middletown, Joe Flood will be performing with Joe Fonda on Upright bass and Scott Kessel, drumship enterprise!  Don’t miss this combination of creative musicians. Saturday night from 8-10pm jazz musician Dan Arcamone who has just released a new album, will be playing a mix from all three of his albums and jazz standards.   Food Not Bombs shares food about 1 pm in front of the Buttonwood Tree every Sunday. All are welcome to enjoy the meal help prepare the feast at First Church on Court Street in Middletown at 11:30 am. Later on at 7:30 at the Buttonwood Sunday evening, “Coming to the mic” is an open mic that will be filmed in its entirety to be aired on Comcast TV. Here’s a quick rundown of cinema off the beaten path herein central CT this week. Tonight Cinestudio, the Trinity College cinema in Hartford, opens a run of “The Pirates, Band of Misfits” from the Animators who created  Wallace & Gromit,  for a  new stop-motion animated movie set in the rollicking pirate realm. Through Thursday  Real Art Ways is showing ‘Peace, Love and Misunderstanding’   a heartfelt comedy and a story about second chances and the things that divide and reunite families.
Through Thursday Real Art Ways continues their run of the new film, Pease Love and Misunderstanding starring Jane Fonda. On Friday Real Art Ways opens a run of, First Position, which follows six young dancers as they prepare for a chance to enter the world of professional ballet for a thrilling and moving portrait of the most gifted young ballet stars of tomorrow.
