Now, here’s a rundown of some of what’s scheduled in the community this weekend.

New Haven's Café Nine tonight features Ecid, Eyenine, and Farout with El Shupacabra at 9 pm. Saturday’s weekly Jazz Jam Session is with George Baker Band, with the 9 pm show headlining Teenager from Mars, and more. Sunday is Drag Bingo night with Dixie Normous at 8 pm. Visit www.cafenine.com

Meanwhile in New Haven, Toad’s Place headlines tonight Cold War Kids featuring Dearland Horns and Maudlin Strangers at 9 pm. Also tonight in Lilly's Pad, it's the October Battle of the Bands at 8 pm. At Infinity Hall in Hartford this evening, they're headlining The Tubes featuring Fee Waybill at 8 pm. Saturday Don McLean plays at 8 pm. The Manchester Silk City Chorus show is Sunday at 1:30 pm, followed by the Cab Calloway Orchestra, directed by Cab's grandson Christopher Calloway Brooks at 7:30 pm. Go to infinityhall.com

Tonight at Middletown's The Buttonwood Tree, the Sean Clapis Jazz Trio plays at 8 pm. Saturday the Noah Baerman Quartet performs at 3 pm, followed by songwriter Katrin at 8 pm. Food Not Bombs serves food outside the Buttonwood Tree every Sunday at about 1 pm and you're invited to help prepare the meal at First Church on Court Street at 11:30 am. The Middletown Arts Guild welcomes Tony D'Amico on Saturday, to lead an illustration workshop at Woodside Intermediate School in Cromwell, starting at 9 am.

On the campus of Wesleyan University the “R. Luke Bubois--In Real Time” exhibit runs through December 13 in the Zilkha Gallery and Tanya Marcuse’s “Phantom Bodies” runs through December 13 in the Davison Art Center. Visit

The CPA prison arts exhibit at the Russell Library in Middletown continues until October 28th.

The Tom Sanders Band plays classic and southern Rock at The Cypress Restaurant on South Main St in Middletown this Saturday  from 8pm-Midnight, details at cypressgrill.com

Connecticut Farmer’s Markets are closing up.  But you can still visit the Middletown Market Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8 am to 1 pm. The market in Old Saybrook is on Wednesdays 10 to 1 pm and Saturdays 9-12:30 pm. Now here's a rundown of cinema off the beaten track in Central Connecticut:

Trinity College’s Cinestudio is showing "Shaun the Sheep Movie", a film from the studio that brought you "Wallace and Gromit" playing through Sunday. Sunday, the encore presentation of National Theater Live's "Hamlet" starring Benedict Cumberbatch shows at 1 pm. Also Sunday, "Diary of A Teenage Girl" a film about growing up in 1970s San Francisco, and starring Kristen Wiig, begins its run. Visit cinestudio.org

Hartford's Real Art Ways continues showings of "The New Girlfriend" Francois Ozon's humorous psychological drama as well as "Finder's Keepers," a documentary about one man's fight to reclaim his lost body part.

Based on Naomi Klein's bestseller, "This Changes Everything", a documentary about climate change is showing today and Saturday. realartways.org has more info.

On Saturday, the Connecticut chapter of Natural Food Associates will present the documentary film "Seeds of Death: Unveiling the Lies of GMO's".  The event begins at noon with a natural potluck lunch and the film starts at 1:15. And now let’s take a look at tonight’s programming on WESU.

Right after the Jive At Five from 5:05-6 pm, it'll be Wild Wild Live with Ethan and Rachel. A sneak peek into the magical live music scene of Wes. Tune in for in-station sets from campus bands and recordings of up-and-coming artists' campus shows.

From 6 to 6:30pm it's Progress for the Planet w/Eric Hagen. Environmental news with a pro-green stance, including some environmentalist music from a variety of genres.
         
From 6:30-7pm it's the Middletown Youth Radio Project. A weekly radio program featuring the thoughts, voices, creativity and talent of the kids in the WESU neighborhood.

At 7 until 8:30pm we have the Universal Sound Wave with Sistah Tee - offering listeners a wide range of music including African, reggae, gospel, R&B, Latin, and blues. Plus health, nutrition, and stress reduction tips.

Next up until 10pm, we take it From the Otherside with Rok-A-Dee where 60% of the show is love songs of different genre. The other 40% is Reggae Dancehall, R&B, and new artiste.   
                                                       
Then from 10pm - midnight, we go In the Master Bedroom, Under the Bed with
Dope Dave – where downtempo poets and acrobatic emcees weave lyricism through various soundscapes.

At Midnight until 3am Saturday we go into OVERDRIVE w/Clarence & Shantay Scott - offering Urban Contemporary, Hip Hop, and Traditional gospel music.

And then, from 3 until 5am you are taken to Wonderland with DJ Cheshire Cat, who has a song in his heart, a chemical imbalance in his head and a musical library at his fingers. From krautrock to post-rock, grunge to garage, novelty to New Romantic, punk to prog, Wonderland has a place for it.

And we bring in the daylight from 5:00 to 6:00am with the 
BBC World News 
- a daily News roundup from the British Broadcasting Corporation

And staying on the other side of the big pond, from 6:00 to 7:00am it’s
 the Celtic Café
 with Pat Laffan and Mark Gallagher presenting traditional and contemporary music with a Celtic connection.
